The Quest for the Most Elusive Material in #Physics

Hi @Dhan Hurley this sounds really interesting. As you mentioned it provides a 5 base logic compared to our current 2 base logic. I don't know much about that topic, but I read an article about a Chinese team who built a quantic computer that outperforms all we know currently. If I remember well it was able to provide 3 base logic. I assume even on a 2 base logic, a quantic technology would be faster right? What would be the benefit of an analogic solution like this?

Backreaction: The LHC has broken #physics, according to this philosopher

This discovery (of the importance and implications of Dirac Sea tickling) appears to have been already known to Dirac himself in 1930. I have merely rediscovered something that Dirac already knew 80 years ago. He and Schrodinger were jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in 1933, and one year later the Control Groups (having realized that Dirac's use of negative energy made possible this direct engineering of physical reality) brutally and arbitrarily tore negative energy out of Dirac's theory of everything, changing it to a "theory of the electron" and arbitrarily changing all the physics textbooks accordingly.

Today there is a determined and strong movement by some very good physicists (led by Dr. Daniel Solomon, Dean of the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of North Carolina State University). They have placed strong and rigorous papers in the leading physics journals, pointing out what a grave mistake was made in this arbitrary removal of negative energy in 1930.

Origin of apparent light-enhanced and negative capacitance in perovskite solar ....So-called negative capacitance seems to remain an obscure feature in the analysis of the frequency-dependent impedance of perovskite solar cells. It belongs to one of the puzzling peculiarities arising from the mixed ionic-electronic conductivity of this class of semiconductor. Here we show that apparently high capacitances in general (positive and negative) are not related to any capacitive feature in the sense of a corresponding charge accumulation. Instead, they are a natural consequence of slow transients mainly in forward current of the diode upon ion displacement when changing voltage.

This is what I wrote in IUT: “By 1929, Edwin Hubble discovered enough galaxies to establish that the degree of redshift also was a rough inverse function of their luminosity, which is a measure of their distance… His greatest mistake was to promote Slipher’s speculation that this cosmological redshift always was due to the Doppler Effect. The title of his famous 1929 introductory paper says it all: “A relation between distance and radial velocity among extra-galactic nebulae.””
In other words, he initially assumed the cosmological redshift and the Doppler Effect were one and the same. But the Doppler Effect only occurs in a medium. Plasma Medium....What ionizes the intergalactic medium?...According to a recent press release, astrophysicists are puzzled by the extent of ionization in distant regions of the Universe.
As the announcement states, after the newborn Universe cooled, hydrogen nuclei (protons) recombined with electrons into neutral atoms. Then, extreme ultraviolet light frequencies are thought to be how the gas was “re-ionized”. However, what is not understood is how that light enters the IGM.
In an Electric Universe,galactic evolution occurs because large-scale plasma discharges form coherent filaments that exhibit electrodynamic behavior.Since the Universe is an electrical system that is constantly charging and discharging, instead of a gravitational system that is constantly contracting and expanding, gravity is not the primary energy source for galactic consolidation. Gravity, by itself, cannot explain how galaxies sometimes form long arcs, like silver beads on a string, threaded through the Universe.

Self-stabilizing photonic levitation and propulsion of nanostructured macroscopic objects....
Light is a powerful tool to manipulate matter, but existing approaches often necessitate focused, high-intensity light that limits the manipulated object’s shape, material and size. Here, we report that self-stabilizing optical manipulation of macroscopic—millimetre-, centimetre- and even metre-scale—objects could be achieved by controlling the anisotropy of light scattering along the object’s surface. In a scalable design that features silicon resonators on silica substrate, we identify nanophotonic structures that can self-stabilize when rotated and/or translated relative to the optical axis. Thermionic energy conversion (TEC) is the direct conversion of heat into electricity by the mechanism of thermionic emission,the spontaneous ejection of hot electrons from a surface.Although the physical mechanism has been known for over a century,it has yet to be consistently realized in a manner practical for large-scale deployment.This perspective article provides an assessment of the potential of TEC systems for space and terrestrial applications in the twenty-first century,overviewing recent advances in the field and identifying key research challenges.Recent developments as well as persisting research needs in materials,device design,fundamental understanding,and testing and validation are discussed.

Physicists proposed fast method for printing nanolasers from rerovskites....An international research team has developed a new method of synthesizing miniature light sources. It is based on a special laser which produces millions of nanolasers from a perovskite film in a few minutes. Such lasers look like small disks, work at room temperature and have an tunable emission wavelength from 550 to 800 nm. The high speed and good reproducibility of this method make it promising for the industrial production of single nanolasers as well as whole chains. The study was published in ACS Nano.

Colloidal quantum dot (CQD) light-emitting diodes (LEDs) deliver a compelling performance in the visible, yet infrared CQD LEDs underperform their visible-emitting counterparts, largely due to their low photoluminescence quantum efficiency. Here we employ a ternary blend of CQD thin film that comprises a binary host matrix that serves to electronically passivate as well as to cater for an efficient and balanced carrier supply to the emitting quantum dot species. In doing so, we report infrared PbS CQD LEDs with an external quantum efficiency of ~7.9% and a power conversion efficiency of ~9.3%, thanks to their very low density of trap states, on the order of 1014 cm−3, and very high photoluminescence quantum efficiency in electrically conductive quantum dot solids of more than 60%.
