Facebook releases statement that it banned Candace Owens for relativisation of white supremacy

Owens, 30, took to Twitter to inform her followers that she had been suspended from Facebook for “posting that white supremacy is not a threat to black America, as much as father absence and & liberal policies that incentivize it, are.”
Now this is a dangerously short-sighted explanation of why a threat is not a threat. Reminds me a little bit of Rudy Giuliani desperately trying to have Donnie's giant back.
Several hours after tweeting about her Facebook ban, Owens tweeted out another tweet let her followers know that Facebook had restored her page and ended the suspension.
Wait, she's back (in black)? Damn, I didn't know that. Now this explains why The Scoop reports about it now. I already wondered why I actually read that.

14-year old girl became latest alt-right star on Youtube

Users — and more importantly to YouTube, advertisers — have over the past year started to hold the platform accountable for enabling the exploitation of children and exposing them to disturbing content. But this video reveals an entirely different way the platform is harming kids: by letting them express extreme views in front of the entire world. This is what indoctrination looks like when it’s reflected back by the indoctrinated.
This is sick, simply sick...
Of course, it’s all presented in the terminally ironic style popularized by boundary-pushing comedy groups like the influential Million Dollar Extreme and adopted of late by white supremacist mass shooters in Christchurch and San Diego.
Assuming you can call shit like this comedy, which we finally have to cease. This is not comedy, this is spreading of hate, fearmongering, and inciting violence against minorities. To call it comedy is like surrendering to the ongoing threat of... show more

Mitt Romney (R - TX) rejects Trump's court pick Michael Truncale

"He made particularly disparaging comments about President Obama. And as the Republican nominee for president, I just couldn't subscribe to that in a federal judge," Romney said in a brief interview. "This was not a matter of qualifications or politics. This was something specifically to that issue as a former nominee of our party."
If you ever wondered what true patriotism looks like, then have a look at Mitt Romney. Patriotism also includes bipartisanship, to avoid the nomination of those who sew the seeds of hatred among us, as best as one can. This is what he does. Patriotism doesn't mean that you will side with your party whenever you have to because you affiliate with your party. It also means that you make rightful decisions upon your own mind, and not on the basis of herd intelligence. Think about it.
Unfortunately, the GOP, nowadays, is filled with brainless puppets that pretend to represent anyone but themselves and their pocket money.

A chronology of hate on behalf of Trump

_I went to a place called Operation Open City. What they had done was send “testers”—meaning one white couple and one couple of color—to Drumpf Village, a very large, lower-middle-class housing project in Brooklyn. And of course the white people were treated great, and for the people of color there were no apartments. We subpoenaed all their documents. That’s how we found that a person’s application, if you were a person of color, had a big C on it.
How subtle...
We met with the architect to go over the elevator-cab interiors at Drumpf Tower, and there were little dots next to the numbers. Drumpf asked what the dots were, and the architect said, “It’s braille.” Drumpf was upset by that. He said, “Get rid of it.” The architect said, “I’m sorry; it’s the law.” This was before the Americans With Disabilities Act, but New York City had a law. Drumpf’s exact words were: “No blind people are going to liv

On the trade war between the US and China

“I expect that China will retaliate and they will do it in as commensurate a way as they can, and that will include not just imports,” said Susan Shirk, former deputy assistant secretary of state during the Clinton administration. “I think our farmers and our farm exports to China will be targeted because that’s what President Drumpf cares about politically,”

He said China’s shrinking current account balance, and the tariffs re-escalation “will create an opening for the (People’s Bank of China) to accept further market-driven depreciation ” of the yuan in the second half of this year.

Patrick Shanahan to officially become new Defense Secretary

“Based upon his outstanding service to the Country and his demonstrated ability to lead, President Drumpf intends to nominate Patrick M. Shanahan to be the Secretary of Defense,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a Thursday statement. “Acting Secretary Shanahan has proven over the last several months that he is beyond qualified to lead the Department of Defense, and he will continue to do an excellent job.”

The reason Drumpf likes Shanahan, though, may come down to one very simple thing: He’s deferential. During a Cabinet meeting on January 2, for example, Shanahan sat stoically next to Drumpf as the president slammed Mattis for keeping America’s military involved in conflicts overseas, particularly in Afghanistan.

Bolsonaro's government lost fight against SC and opposition to remove protection from rain forest

Taken together, this means that Bolsonaro’s signature action to start the rollback of indigenous territories and declare open season on Amazon deforestation – which needs both congressional and judicial approval to fly – looks to be crashing on takeoff. It’s also a glimmer of hope for indigenous and environmental protections in a country now led by a president openly hostile to Brazil’s indigenous peoples and Amazon rainforest – repositories of its vast social and biological diversity, and key to stabilizing the global climate.

On its first day in office, the Bolsonaro administration decided in executive action MP 870 to remove the authority to legally recognize and physically demarcate indigenous lands from the National Indian Foundation (FUNAI) and give it to the Ministry of Agriculture, Ranching and Supply (MAPA). MAPA is controlled by politicians affiliated with the anti-indigenous agriculture caucus of the c

"Very fine people" interrupt Holocaust remembrance in Russellville, AR

As reported by KSFM, the far-right group interrupted the remembrance event as part of ongoing protests in support of former Arkansas Tech University (ATU) professor Michael Arthur Link, who died in 2016, at age 79.

“The evidence against Dr. Link includes anti-Semitic passages in his written work, testimony from former students and colleagues, and a well-documented 2005 incident in which Dr. Link presented anti-Semitic, neo-Nazi published texts in a graduate seminar as though they were legitimate historical works,” the letter said.

The Persecution of Alain Soral

Alain #Finkielkraut recently stated: “ #Soral is the most dangerous and ominous character of the public scene.” To understand the significance of these words, you have to know who is Alain Finkielkraut, and who is Alain Soral.

Finkielkraut is one of our #French neoconservatives. Formerly a #Trotskyist , he is now a nationalist. He embodies what Soral calls National-Zionism, that new ideology massively promoted by #Jewish “intellectuals” and media pundits who, after calling for the abolition of #borders and drowning #Europe in mass #immigration , now tell the French people to turn to #Israel as a model for dealing with #Muslims .

Democracy is dissatisfying many people around the world

Across 27 countries polled, a median of 51% are dissatisfied with how democracy is working in their country; just 45% are satisfied.
Ouch. This is a tremendous decline in their belief in democracy. What is to make out of this, beside the fact that democracy is comparably impotent when it comes to persuading people about its advantageous role model in terms of equal opportunities. I guess that people like Pete Buttigieg are right when they say that capitalism is ardently undermining the core values of our democracy, namely equal opportunities, a peaceful contribution of resources for everyone on behalf of the market, and a blooming future for descending generations thanks to mutually social participation of everyone towards it.
Most believe elections bring little change, that politicians are corrupt and out of touch and that courts do not treat people fairly. On the other hand, people are more positive about how well their countries protect free expression, provide economic

On Putin's attempt to ease access to Russian citizenship for Ukrainians

Putin did not mention his own government’s culpability in creating the deadly conflict in eastern Ukraine, which has resulted in the human rights problems to which he referred. The territories the Russian president referred to have not been under Ukrainian government control since the spring of 2014, when Russia used military force to establish the so-called “republics” in Donetsk and Luhansk. Polygraph.info has documented how Russia initiated the war in 2014 and, according to international authorities, continues to exercise control over part of Ukraine’s Donbas.

However, Putin could not reasonably claim pensions as a reason for his action on Russian passports, because Russia’s Pension Fund later announced that recipients of these passports would not be eligible to collect any pensions unless they permanently relocated to Russia.

The most commonly-cited example involved the two breakaway Georgian territories of Abkhazia and South

President Trump's daughter-in-law claims accomodation of humanitarian refugees was Germany's downfall

Even though most respondents remain skeptical about the prospect of living near refugees, they report holding "strong humanitarian views" and express sympathy for those displaced by armed conflict—especially families with children. Notwithstanding these disheartening strains of Islamophobia and NIMBY-ism, the researchers found "no widespread perception that Germany was undergoing a 'refugee crisis'" of the type often reported in right-wing media outlets. The team also learned that Germans who had actually gotten to know refugees were likeliest to welcome more refugees into their communities.

None of these events, however, were the true "downfall of Germany." To Lara Drumpf, that long-dreaded day did not come until 2015, when a wealthy industrialized member of the European Union agreed to grant refuge to some humanitarian refugees, something her father-in-law actively shuns.

Is EKRE going to become a threat for Estonia's progressivism and pro-European stance?

EKRE’s popularity gained a significant boost from the formal recognition of same-sex unions in 2014 (which made Estonia the first central or eastern European country to adopt such legislation) and the outbreak of the migration crisis in Europe in 2015. “If you’re black, go back” and “I want Estonia to be a white country” were just some of the comments Martin Helme made in 2013.

It is only likely to heighten tensions between communities – and that’s before we know Brexit’s implications for the border. Right across the UK, a festival so closely associated with Brexit may only reinforce divides when it could be bridging them.”

On what is going to affect India's general election's outcome

Hindus comprise about 80% of India’s 1.3 billion people, so the BJP is invoking its Hindu nationalist roots, with Modi at the forefront against the threat of Pakistan, India’s Muslim-majority archrival.

Voting will take place in seven phases over six weeks beginning Thursday. Nearly 900 million people, including 15.9 million first-time voters, are eligible to cast ballots in the world’s largest democratic exercise. Around a million polling stations will be set up, and voters will choose 543 members of the Lower House of Parliament.

But anti-Muslim sentiment in India has become more common and more violent since the BJP came to power in 2014. At least three dozen Muslims have been lynched by self-styled Hindu vigilante groups or mobs on suspicion of illegally moving cows, sacred to Hindus, or eating beef, according to Human Rights Watch.

Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) opened the hearings by saying it was “sadly necessary to examine an urgent crisis in our country.” Ranking member Doug Collins (R-GA), meanwhile, claimed that House Republicans had “led the chamber’s unequivocal revocation of white nationalism.”

Some of those testifying did address glaring problems in the current approach to combating white nationalism. Eileen Hershenov of the Anti-Defamation League noted how fringe online communities like Gab and 8chan had created “24/7 white nationalist rallies.” Kristen Clarke of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law asked why the FBI had devoted resources to investigating Black Identity Extremists while allowing white supremacist movements to grow at an alarming rate.

On depredating of oneself's dignity - and nationalism

That’s because from the earliest humans onward, we have evolved an instinct to unify in the face of an external threat. Our success on the food chain derives only secondarily from our intelligence. Our primary advantage was our ability to cooperate.

My problem with nationalism is that, left unchecked, it devolves into the spirit of emergency. By placing the logic of “us” above all, it must create thems that must be defeated. It casts about for threats to justify a cult of unity. As Orwell observed, “As nearly as possible, no nationalist ever thinks, talks, or writes about anything except the superiority of his own power unit.”

The Iranians are nationalists; the Nazis were nationalist; Maduro, Chavez, Stalin, Castro, Mussolini, the Kims: They’re all nationalists. So were Washington, Lincoln, Churchill, and de Gaulle. What differentiated the heroes from the villains was how they deployed nationalist sentiments.

It depends on how you view the sawing of fences or the literal undermining of the border fences. It all depends on one's point of view of the whole scene. Federal hiring laws require that employers have new hires fill out I-9 forms. The laws perform “necessary and common sense functions,” Berger said at a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

“They ensure U.S. citizens and legal U.S. residents are hired for jobs in the U.S.,” Berger said. “They also ensure that illegal workers are not preyed upon or paid less than the going wage or otherwise coerced or cheated or subjected to unsafe working conditions without any means of complaint
