Here is a BORING POST nobody will read although it is a fairly well documented snapshot of the situation
On Israel and Palestine (and the «Deal of the Century»)
1. HRW director to be deported from Israel: TIME Magazine
_The Jerusalem District Court rejected an appeal by Omar Shakir to remain in the country, saying that his activities against Israel’s West Bank settlements amount to a boycott of the country.__So far, as I read in the Jerusalem Post in my RSS Feed, attacks against Palestinian villages were experienced recently; the attackers were West Bank settlers, and were even joined by police forces. Thus, how would protests against those illegal settlements cause a reason to deport someone? This is strange.
(Source: Jerusalem Post)
The court said that Shakir “continues his actions publicly to advance a boycott against Israel, but it’s not on the stages at conferences or in university panels, rather through disseminating his calls to advance boycott primarily through his Twitter account and by other means.”You see - cease operations in the West Bank. The actual country of Israel can still be a place to venture, to trade and produce. Nothing about BDS.
Human Rights Watch said neither the organization nor Shakir promotes Israel boycotts, but has called for companies to cease operations in West Bank settlements because they “inherently benefit from and contribute to serious violations of international humanitarian law.”
Roger Waters being Roger Waters on The Guardian
(And I still thought he would also play a concert in Tel Aviv. Didn't people on Twitter say so? 😁)
If your answer to this question is yes, then a second question arises: am I prepared to stand behind my support for human rights and act on it? Will I help my brothers and sisters in their struggle for human rights, or will I cross over and walk by on the other side? After so many years of his encouragement to boycott Israel, which he keeps on repeating like a mantra, reading pieces like this is already cringeworthy. Seriously, he either has to stop or come up with something new. Because this way, he only becomes a laughing stock, and eventually, even Palestinians will distance themselves from him because they realise what he does stands counterproductive to their own ideals when it comes sto solving the everlasting problem.
Some of my fellow musicians who have recently performed in Israel say they are doing it to build bridges and further the cause of peace. Bullshit. To perform in Israel is a lucrative gig but to do so serves to normalise the occupation, the apartheid, the ethnic cleansing, the incarceration of children, the slaughter of unarmed protesters … all that bad stuff.
I support the fight for human rights for all oppressed peoples everywhere. The religion of the oppressor is neither here nor there. If I support the Rohingyas and deplore the Mayanmar persecution of them, it doesn’t make me anti-Buddhist.
Now, on for the «Deal of The Century», created and enforced by senior adviser and son-in-law to Donald Trump, Jared Kushner. There recently has been some more progress, although it seems like it doesn't include a state of Palestine, which is a vital requirement in terms to create something we could call peace in the Middle East, or at least between Israel and Palestine. Let's see what can be told about it. There is an article by the Middle East Monitor (although it was also reported by Israeli newspapers, so don't feel angry about this choice), and an opinion piece published in the Foreign Policy. Let's see what we've got there.
1. Palestinian statehood not included in peace deal: Middle East Monitor
Speaking on Friday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that he did not think Netanyahu’s pre-election promise to annex the occupied West Bank to Israel would impact the “deal of the century”. Asked during an interview with CNN whether he thought Netanyahu “vowing to annex the West Bank” could hurt the US’ proposal, Pompeo answered “I don’t”. “I think that the vision that we’ll lay out is going to represent a significant change from the model that’s been used,” he added.
The deal has long been suspected of being biased towards Israel’s interests, prompting Palestinian factions and Arab leaders to reject the plan even before its revelation. Speaking yesterday during his first meeting of the new Palestinian government, Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas said that “the first challenge ahead of the new government is the ‘deal of the century’,” adding that any attempts to talk with the Drumpf administration were “useless”. “We rejected this deal from the beginning because it did not include Jerusalem and we do not want a state without Jerusalem or without Gaza,” Abbas added.
2. Trump must not let the deal happen if he intends to preserve peace between ISL and PAL: Foreign Policy
The Kushner plan also stands a good chance of actually setting back U.S. interests in three critical areas: It might lead to annexation of the West Bank, it could give the Saudi government leverage over the United States that it doesn’t currently have, and it would distract from Drumpf’s signature achievement of putting real pressure on Iran’s government.
However, the shrewd and risk-averse Netanyahu would most likely prefer to find a way to keep the murky status quo, in which Israel maintains security control over the entire West Bank and channels support to many existing Israeli settlements while holding out the admittedly dim prospect of a diplomatic resolution with the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority.
That surprisingly sustainable house of cards may finally come crumbling down if Abbas rejects the Kushner plan, which he has already given every indication of doing. In turn, Israeli rightists will seize on Abbas’s “no” to argue that Israel has no negotiating partner, gutting a key rationale for keeping the status quo alive.
Last but not least, an article about a man who was deported out of his home in Gaza via sanctions ruled by the Palestinian Authority. Yes, this has happened:
The father, Suheil Ibrahim al-Kafarneh, is from the town of Beit Hanun in the northern Gaza Strip. He published a post on Facebook in which he said: “Because of the cutting of the stipend for my son, martyr Tareq Suheil Ibrahim al-Kafarneh, and due to the accumulation of debts, I announce the sale of my house."
_“I have diabetes and high blood pressure, and support a family of 12,” the father said. He added that he has approached a local foundation that cares for the families of Palestinians killed by the IDF, and prisoners held in Israeli prisons, but did not hear back from them.__

Online dating sites, such as #PlentyofFish and #Tinder, have become tools used by #humantraffickers to recruit potential #victims. In some cases, potential #traffickers #manipulate their victims into thinking that they are looking for a romantic #relationship to recruit and then ultimately use #force, #fraud or #coercion to #profit off of their relationship with the victim.

Imagine being kidnapped by human traffickers and forced to commit crimes for them or be killed...
Now imagine that you have escaped and survived, but you are forced to carry a criminal record from what you were forced to do!
It's a nightmare that I would never thought of, but many survivors of human trafficking are unable to get their criminal history cleared even after escaping their captors. According to Polaris, "91% of survivor respondents had a criminal record as a result of being trafficked."

France must act on the “dire” living conditions of migrants and refugees sleeping rough in Calais and stop systematically evicting people from tents in violation of the right to adequate housing, the United Nation’s housing envoy has warned.
Leilani Farha, the UN’s special rapporteur for housing, highlighted the “harsh conditions” of an estimated 600-700 migrants and refugees currently homeless and sheltering in tents or makeshift camps on the northern French coast with “extremely limited access to emergency shelter”. Many have come to northern France because they hope to reach Britain. #France #Refugees #Calais #Humanrights #Europe #Law #Worldnews #UnitedNations #Migration
