another lineageOS 16 question for the crowds and krauts
i managed to get the my sd-card working on my Xperia XA2 ultra and was able to store some musik-files on it.
then i ran into another strange problem. the lineage-os-16 music player doesn't find the music files. they are there and when i choose them directly trough the file manager the player dutifully starts playing them. but it doesn't show any of them in its collection. the player's collection is empty.
i couldn't find any place where to tell android to look into special directories for media files. or to rescan its filesystem for new files.
my workaroud now is not to use the lineageos music player but vlc instead. but i'd prefer not to install additional programs so as not to clog the system.
i wonder if anybody here in the krauts and crowds knows where to configure the media-storage for lineage os so that the built in play is able to do its job properly?
share your knowledge freely!
thanks in advance.

WhatsApp discovers spyware that infected with a call alone
Spyware crafted by a sophisticated group of hackers-for-hire took advantage of a flaw in the popular WhatsApp communications program to remotely hijack dozens of phones, the company said late Monday.
The Financial Times identified the actor as Israel’s NSO Group, and WhatsApp all but confirmed the identification, describing hackers as “a private company that has been known to work with governments to deliver spyware.” A spokesman for the Facebook subsidiary later said: “We’re certainly not refuting any of the coverage you’ve seen.”

Makes a lot of sense as Android already knows when you are in driving mode versus walking somewhere vs sitting at home. It does already have the emergency contacts all setup and ready.

#Google propose le backup automatique (c'est peut etre meme activé par défaut?) du coup il a en permanence une copie de vos clés de chiffrement et votre historique whatsapp, conversations, etc... ?
Google warns that ADB backup and restore may be removed in a future Android release - I'm worrying Android is moving toward iOS lockdown and that was why I left iOS for Android...
ADB backup and restore is a handy tool that allows you to do much more than the typical OEM backup options. You can save private data and installed applications without needing root. Unfortunately, it looks like ADB backup and restore may be going away. A commit in AOSP is titled “Add deprecation warning to adb backup/restore.”
With Android Q I'm seeing lost of warnings about background activities being depreciated in future. I'm just getting that niggling feeling now that Android is moving towards iOS in terms of locking down activities in the name of security, stability, etc. I wanted to use a screen recorder now to show off some of the new Google Maps AR functionality but every one I tried was blocking the video screen recording. I was hoping it was just a bug but I'm getting an uncomfortable feeling. I left iOS mainly because too many things were locked down and Android offered freedom and options.
It's not to say though that all is lost as there is LineageOS and other 3rd party Android ROMs that I would expect to honour freedoms and power users. But if all else fails I see Ubuntu Touch has had another update released. For now, we do still have developer options, rooted capability, etc but some restrictions are starting to intrude already in the guise of "protecting" us. But let's give Android Q a chance to mature and see where it goes.
