On Henry Kissinger's failed speech at New York University and Conservatism at colleges
1. The Bulwark:
In the ‘60s, it was the revolutionary counterculture and the rise of the New Left. Today, it is the scourge of identity politics and the attendant intersectionality, trigger warnings, among other signs of radical left dominance among students and faculty alike.I wouldn't call it the radical left but the whimpy left. This has got nothing to do with radicalism but rather with emotionalism. You simply have to tell them that when they can't stand the heat, they should stay out of the kitchen. Something like that.
Still, you shouldn't give somebody like Milo a stage, at least not at campus. He's got nothing to do with politics but only with populism. and colleges should not be the place to promote populism. I was fine with Jordan Peterson, but Milo crosses a line of decency.
Student groups invite conservative speakers ranging from the reasonable to the incendiary to campus and then sit back and wait for the inevitable protests. They call out left-wing professors who silence dissent.True. Once the whimpy left shut down each Conservative voice, the right didn't care anymore who they invited because it didn't matter in terms of protesters who are going to counter his or her attendance.
Conservatives can mock Obama for having been a “community activist” all they want – at least the left understands the importance of the local. Read through the aims of many a left-wing group on campus and you’ll see an intense focus on forming local groups and alliances, on strengthening community, on stuff normal people can contribute to and appreciate. Conservatives can, at best, offer scintillating intellectual debate on high principle and occasional voting advice.Funnily, I always thought that Conservatives were the people who cared most for local affairs. Yet in the end, the very opposite seems to be the case.
Murray had written in a book that racial differences in intelligence might to some extent be hereditary. Former NYPD commissioner Raymond Kelly supported the “racist” stop-and-frisk policy. And Peter Thiel was forced to leave a 2014 speech at UC Berkeley by students shouting “No police state!” and “Black lives matter!” But it’s not clear what the students thought Mr. Thiel had to do with any of that. The first one is inarguably racist when he thinks that you could differ someone's intellect regarding his origin, we've been through race biology before and have proven it wrong. Why bring it up again? As for the second one, the stop-and-frisk policy is not inherently racist, but when this policy comes into action, those who are going to become targeted the most by it are people of minority origins, those who look non-white. It's not the policy but those who are told to execute it.
As for Peter Thiel, I don't get this either. He's a douche, no doubt, but what they shouted truly doesn't match up. I guess that some of them didn't know who's walking there.
But the students who object so strenuously to Kissinger’s “war crimes” are the same students who wear Che Guevara t-shirts and quote Mao. They do not criticize (or are unaware of) North Vietnam’s mass-murder campaign following the American withdrawal.Oh God, do they really quote Mao? I own a small pocketbook with quotes of his, but would never tend to quote him publicly. Maybe in my blog when it matches what I write, but even this would be a scarce encounter. He's simply too brutal to enhance one's reader, he functions like a scarecrow.
And this is an exceptionally, almost disarmingly naïve approach. I recently learned how a liberal friend of mine from New York was shocked to discover, on a visit to a Middle Eastern country that wasn’t Israel, that to be publicly identifiable as a Jew was not just unwise but could actually be dangerous. It had not occurred to him that a universal acceptance of other cultures was not itself a universal value.Holy hell, which road did we take in development of university campuses?
This grotesque and ahistorical attack is by no means the first. In the 2016 presidential campaign, independent socialist candidate Bernie Sanders attacked Hilary Clinton for being a friend of “Kissinger, the war criminal of Cambodia.”Sometimes I wonder which role figures like Hillary Clinton (in the Bush administration) and Henry Kissinger (in Vietnam, Cambodia, and so on) played, and whether one doesn't do them wrong when calling them out this way.
I feel some responsibility for the Cambodia part of such attacks. Almost 40 years ago, in 1979, I published a book called “Sideshow: Kissinger, Nixon and the Destruction of Cambodia.” It was a tough book, based on thousands of pages of U.S. government documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act and hundreds of interviews. Its argument was that massive U.S. bombing and other careless Nixon-Kissinger White House policies toward Cambodia had created the conditions in which the genocidal communist Khmer Rouge came to power in 1975.Oh, ok, they may have gotten a point there, I leave this to them.
I do not agree with everything that Kissinger has done, and I imagine there are decisions that he too regrets. But he is an extraordinary man who deserves respect. He came to the U.S. in 1938 as a 15-year-old exile from Nazi Germany, and returned there to fight the Nazis as a young GI in 1944. He wrote to his parents, “I feel proud and happy to be able to enter here as a free American soldier.”

Are the US a democracy after all?
That the two sides in that tussle tend to fall along party lines, each preferring the term that resembles their party name, plays no small part in the debate. But members of the conservative group also brought to the table the argument that K-12 social studies should be based on a close, originalist reading of the United States’ founding documents.Oh my....
These documents are closely examined. While schools can teach material not included in them, they shape the content in standardized tests, and many educators rely heavily on the standards as they craft lesson plans. Student teachers are trained to use them.
The Michigan Department of Education invited Mr. Colbeck to participate in the standards-writing process after he submitted a 13 page critique of a 2015 draft of the document. Mr. Colbeck, a former aerospace engineer who became active in politics through the Tea Party movement, saw liberal bias throughout the standards.
Asked to name the influences on his view of American history, Mr. Colbeck cited Dinesh D’Souza, the right-wing commentator, and a radio talk show hosted by Levon R. Yuille, a pastor and anti-abortion activist.
Mr. Colbeck, the former state senator who had helped write the previous draft, was displeased. Calling the nation a democracy was not “politically neutral and accurate,” he said.Neither would've been calling it a republic, according to this statement. You could've narrowed it down to calling it a state, or a country. Nation could imply a nationalist stance, which would have lacked the nonpartisanship as well. Calm down, dude, it's all right.

Republicans still going crazy on AOC, calling her a domestic terrorist
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York tweeted about the incident, calling the rhetoric dangerous and adding such incidents lead to spikes in death threats made against her.It took them pretty long to apologise for this disgraceful email. Did they first have to find the author of the email and then hold an impromptu summit to discuss whether they stand by their word or not?
"The OCRF does not condone the unauthorized email sent out in our name," the organization wrote. "We apologize to Congresswoman Ocascio-Cortez for the use of unacceptable language in this email, and we do not approve of the message conveyed."

US Senate has reached a gridlock situation
Just last week, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) triggered the “nuclear option” and weakened the Senate’s vaunted filibuster to steamroll over Democratic resistance to President Donald Drumpf’s nominees — the third time in six years the majority party has unilaterally changed Senate rules."Democracy"...
“The fact that we’ve had political vote after political vote after political vote while there’s issues like climate change and comprehensive immigration [reform]that we don’t take up — yeah,” said Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) when asked if the Senate had bottomed out. “We’re an awful lot like the House now. It’s no longer ‘The Greatest Deliberative Body.’ It’s just another body.”
Congress has to pass some funding measure to avoid another shutdown by the end of September, something both sides say they want to do. The U.S. government also will hit the debt limit around the same time, and Congress will have to authorize trillions in new borrowing or potentially spark a global financial crisis.

OH Gov. Mike DeWine (Republican) signs heartbeat bill, ACLU going to sue it
“The signing of this bill today is consistent with that respect for life and the imperative to protect those who cannot protect themselves,” DeWine said moments before signing the bill at the Ohio Statehouse, flanked by GOP legislative leaders and anti-abortion advocates.(Bold text was added by me, while italic is usual for quotes in my post)
Under the bill, doctors would face a fifth-degree felony punishable by up to a year in prison for performing an abortion after detecting a heartbeat. The bill has an exception to save the life of the woman but no exception for rape or incest – in line with current state law.
"A woman should have the ability to make her own personal decision about whether or not to become a parent, and no politician should interfere in that decision," Pepper said in a statement. "This bill is a disgrace, and it will endanger women’s lives in Ohio."

Do Social Networks really censor Conservatives?
“I tell you, I have many, many millions of followers on Twitter and it’s different than it used to be,” Drumpf said. “Things are happening, names are taken off, people aren’t getting through. You’ve heard the same complaints. And it seems to be, if they’re conservative, if they’re Republicans, if they’re in a certain group, there’s discrimination and big discrimination. I see it absolutely on Twitter and Facebook, which I have also, and others I see.”Beside that, the question is: Is it worth arguing with someone who speaks like these titles? Provoking is a rhetoric tool, true, but this goes far beyond the fine use of tools and simply whacks you all the time. This is agitation, and frankly not worth my time.
While it waits on the second suit, Prager University is actually outpacing left-leaning channels in searches for certain terms associated with the left. As of Tuesday, the channel was in the top three YouTube results for searches on “social justice,” “socialism,” “leftism,” and “leftist.” The resulting videos (“What is Social Justice?” “Capitalism vs. Socialism,” “The Left Ruins Everything,” and “Why You Can’t Argue with a Leftist”) each have millions of views.
Meanwhile Media Matters, the left-leaning organization that conducted the study on Facebook traffic, recently had a YouTube video removed “for violating YouTube’s policy on harassment and bullying,” a YouTube notice reads. And it also wasn't restored. So long for you, whining pseudo-Conservatives.

Contemplating the powers of Checks & Balances
The judiciary should be non-partisan. But it might be too much to expect the judiciary to be completely oblivious to the president’s public scoffing at their neutrality. Drumpf has labeled federal judges as Obama judges, or Bush judges, and asserted that the federal judge in the case involving Drumpf University was biased simply because his parents were born in Mexico.Well, in the end, we cannot completely believe that judges will always think and decide on a non-partisan base. On the Supreme Court, we speak of a balance of five to four respectively Conservative and liberal judges; out here, in Germany, we recently had the case of a state attorney who was known to follow by an outer right-winged agenda, therefore led investigations into a left-winged group of activists who reached the headlines for having installed a faux Holocaust memorial. What do you think how a non-partisan judiciary was supposed to be created? Well, the only way was to use apparent AI, but this still lies in its fancies, as far as I'm concerned.
In 1803, Chief Justice Marshall asserted it was the duty of the courts to “say what the law is.” Why, then, have the courts supinely agreed to what an administrator appointed by the president says a law means? This is the moment for the judicial and legislative to re-establish that they are co-equal to the executive branch. It is long overdue.

Advertisement boycott causes life-threatening cuts for right-winged pundit Breitbart
In footage reportedly shot in London last summer during a dinner with far-right European nationalists, Mr Bannon said Breitbart was in “tough financial shape” after seeing advertising revenues plummet "90 per cent".Teehee...
“This group called Sleeping Giants, a group of tech executives, they literally stripped out, they went and took 35 exchanges that sell the ads … 31 went away. So the ad revenues dropped like 90 per cent,” said Mr Bannon, who resigned as executive chairman of Breitbart six months before the footage was allegedly taken.Teehee...
Asked how Breitbart was generating revenues, Mr Bannon said it was all generated by advertising. “I’m saying it’s in touch financial shape,” he added.

Israeli PM Netanyahu faces heavy backlash with elecotral campaign to annex Jewish settlements in the West Bank, not accepting a Palestinian state
Malki told the Associated Press Sunday on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Jordan that Netanyahu’s pledge was likely aimed at rallying his nationalist base in the final stretch of a tight race.Sounds about likely. He is going to need this base to win the election after more moderate candidates have emerged during the electoral campaign season.
Polls have indicated a close race, though Netanyahu’s Likud party is expected to have a better chance than Gantz’s Blue and White slate to form a ruling coalition. Polls forecast more than 60 out of 120 parliament seats for the Likud and smaller right-wing and ultra-Orthodox Jewish parties.
The interviewer asked why he hadn’t annexed some of the larger settlements during his current term. “The question you are asking is an interesting question, whether we will move to the next stage and the answer is yes,” he said, adding that the next term in office would be fateful. “We will move to the next stage, the imposing of Israeli sovereignty.”

On depredating of oneself's dignity - and nationalism
That’s because from the earliest humans onward, we have evolved an instinct to unify in the face of an external threat. Our success on the food chain derives only secondarily from our intelligence. Our primary advantage was our ability to cooperate.
My problem with nationalism is that, left unchecked, it devolves into the spirit of emergency. By placing the logic of “us” above all, it must create thems that must be defeated. It casts about for threats to justify a cult of unity. As Orwell observed, “As nearly as possible, no nationalist ever thinks, talks, or writes about anything except the superiority of his own power unit.”
The Iranians are nationalists; the Nazis were nationalist; Maduro, Chavez, Stalin, Castro, Mussolini, the Kims: They’re all nationalists. So were Washington, Lincoln, Churchill, and de Gaulle. What differentiated the heroes from the villains was how they deployed nationalist sentiments.

Pittsburgh City Council approves of stricter gun control measures after shooting at Tree Of Life Synagogue
The legislation will place restrictions on military-style assault weapons like the AR-15 rifle that authorities say was used in the Oct. 27 rampage at Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill, which killed 11 people and wounded seven.
It also bans most uses of armor-piercing ammunition and high-capacity magazines, and allows the temporary seizure of guns from people who are determined to be a danger to themselves or others.
However, Second Amendment activists have made it known that they will challenge the legislation in court, pointing out that state law doesn’t allow municipalities to regulate firearms. The legislation was watered down last week in an effort to make it more likely to survive a court challenge.

Intelligence agency classified left-winged demonstrators as terrorists
The report, Antifa/Anti-antifa: Violence in the Streets, was produced by the Regional Organized Crime Information Center (ROCIC) in May 2017. It was obtained with a Foia request from the not-for-profit transparency group Property of the People. Antifa is the name given to groups of leftwing protests who confront white nationalists, often violently.
The report frames political street violence in America as an evenly-poised battle between “antifa’s”, described as “an alliance between anarchists and communists to confront and defeat fascists and white supremacists by whatever means necessary”, and “anti-antifa, a loose collection of white supremacists, neo-Nazis, white nationalists, Ku Klux Klanners, white identity groups and a group called the alt-right”.
The report makes further assertions about the relationship between the groups that experts say are unsupported by facts. At one point, the report says: “The antifa can be considered leftwing anarchism and the anti-antifa can be considered rightwing anarchism.”

On the failed political discourse in the 21st century
Consider the immigration debate, which not at all debate but rather an article of secular dogma. Either you believe that “dey tuk er jerbz!” or you are in favor of “ayyymnasty!” Long gone is the middle ground of enforcing our laws and restoring legal pathways to citizenship; the argument is Manichean and total. The question is what this legal path towards citizenship includes, the devil usually lies in the details. Otherwise, I agree with the author. The discourse lacks the decency, the arguments, and the common volume of noise. Especially the right screams more than it argues in its favour.
In both instances, opponents have no truck for actually weighing claims. In fact, those who are opposed to fanaticism in either instance are immediately slandered as either destroying the planet or destroying America. Careers can and have been ruined over denying climate change. Reject the hysteria over immigration, and watch in incredulity as the professional demagogue sweeps aside rational thought.I wonder what fabulous institutions you will find who have found evidence that climate change wasn't real. I will wait.
In the meantime, let me just tell you that when the chairman of the EPA is a climate change denier, it is only legit to remove him from this very post. The same goes to any other person who denies the existence of climate change and occupies a position in which he or she may contribute to it. When oen is assumed to be true, the removal commitment from the post is only a logical subsequence to combat the same. Nothing about hysteria, or irrationality, but the opposite.
Politics is no longer about ideas, but rather about polemics and personality contests. People say horrible things to one another over the most mediocre of difference on social media, whether on principle or “for the lulz.” One can argue whether Drumpf himself is the cause of this plague or mere symptom. But there is no doubt he is the face of it.I would go for the symptom; we had the same from the Alt-Right wing during the Obama administration, starting with the birther conspiracy.

Right-winged justice minister Ayelet Shaked sparks controversy with «fascist» ad
In the spot, Ayelet Shaked walks slowly down a staircase, her hair gently tossed by a breeze, as a female narrator whispers seductively in Hebrew: “Separation of powers”, “Restraining the Supreme Court”.Yes, that's exactly how I would promote a perfume, or my political agenda for the upcoming election. :'D
Seriously, though, her ad is strange. Does anyone clearly know what she promotes? So far, I only looked into her profile on Wikipedia, and to me, she doesn't appear like a fascist, but only like a stronger conservative with slightly libertarian tendencies. As it reads, she is inspired by Ayn Rand's two major books, of which I so far read one, Atlas Shrugged.
The report about her bizarre ad
And also an analysation of the electoral campaigns of the Israeli parties. Because, why not? Maybe I will also have a look for her programme, so that we finally know what makes her so fascist, or not.
On one side of the divide lies Israelis who believe that the Supreme Court is among the most important state institutions, an essential check on other branches of government. They view the assault on the court by right-wing governments of recent years as an attack on democracy itself. The link for these quote is right here.
And in fact, Israel’s Supreme Court has upheld the country’s policies of occupation at least as often as it modifies them. Yet the image that the court helps Palestinians endures.
Her New Right party is fighting to wrest votes from The Union of Right-Wing Parties (which includes the Kahanist Jewish Power party). That far-far right party is also fighting over the judiciary: Rafi Peretz, leader of the Union, said on Wednesday that his party would demand the Justice Ministry in a future government, so that the “Supreme Court will know its place,” while his Kahanist consort Itamar Ben-Gvir vowed to “put an end to the government of the Supreme Court.”
And last but not least, some desperately garnered information on what Ms. Shaked tries to change and enforce in case she should at least become a partner in a governmental coalition:
“We promote Haredi integration into the labor market, and this is the most important thing in his case — more than the [military]draft,” she said. “Bennett promotes [gender]segregated Haredi higher education despite the massive opposition in the media and academia.”For those who, like me, wondered what a Haredi is, here's the introductory chapter of the respective Wikipedia article (Yes, I use Wikipedia another time, because I currently am not interested in making a deeper research for such some general information):
Haredi Judaism is a broad spectrum of groups within Orthodox Judaism, all characterized by a rejection of modern secular culture. Its members are often referred to as strictly Orthodox or ultra-Orthodox in English, although the term "ultra-Orthodox" is considered pejorative by many of its adherents. The linke to this article can be found here.
“Some of them went into academia, others went out to work immediately after their wedding, and they are more liberal than the establishment, and sometimes this liberalism takes revenge on them [the parties]. They have long been looking for a new political framework, and maybe Bennett and Shaked can provide that for them.”
Well, not too much for me, but I guess we have to stick to it.

Mahmoud Abbas claims that US allowed Israel to annex parts of West Bank
Speaking at the Arab League summit in Tunisia, "What is coming from the US is more dangerous and serious,” he said. “The US will tell Israel, annex part of the Palestinian lands and grant self-rule to what's left of the land, and give the Gaza Strip a state so that Hamas can play there.I guess that Trump's exact plan for peace is to erase the Palestinian people and let Israel devour all the land they didn't annex via their settlement expansion yet. Great plan, huh? No? Well, I am not surprised. This would only lead to a full-force attack from the Arab league, except from Saudi Arabia, because they coalesce with Israel to erase Iran. Yes, it's not that easy to understand the Middle-Eastern situation.
“The US administration's decision is to destroy the Arab Peace Plan and constitutes a dramatic change from the positions of previous US administrations,” Abbas continued.
Former US Ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk tweeted on Sunday, “So by recognizing Israel’s annexation of the Golan, Drumpf is helping [Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu] Bibi get re-elected, which will help the right-wing annex the West Bank, which will lead to pressure from his base to recognize that too, which will doom his peace plan and Israel.”

Instagram has got a conspiracy theory problem
Instagram is teeming with these conspiracy theories, viral misinformation, and extremist memes, all daisy-chained together via a network of accounts with incredible algorithmic reach and millions of collective followers—many of whom, like Alex, are very young. These accounts intersperse TikTok videos and nostalgia memes with anti-vaccination rhetoric, conspiracy theories about George Soros and the Clinton family, and jokes about killing women, Jews, Muslims, and liberals.Soundsl ike 4chan, and the /pol/ subreddit. Nothing new, it all hast just moved on a different platform. I guess they are constantly wandering to spread as widely as possible in case they are removed from one.
In an email, an Instagram spokesperson told me that the company and its parent, Facebook, “continue to study trends in organized hate and hate speech and work with partners to better understand hate organizations as they evolve.” The spokesperson added, “We ban these organizations and individuals from Instagram and also remove all praise and support when we become aware of it. We will continue to review content, accounts, and people that violate our policies and take action against hate speech and hate organizations to help keep our community safe.”Then, there are hundreds of thousands of people using your platform and you are still unaware of them, so that they can loudly continue. You are either blind and deaf, or an ignorant hypocrite. None of the possibilites are advantageous to you.
[...] a New York Times headline called the site “The Great Radicalizer.” Facebook is notorious for allowing anti-vaxxers and other conspiracy theorists to organize and spread their messages to millions—the two most-shared news stories on Facebook in 2019 so far are both false. Twitter, too, has been criticized for being slow to police the misinformation that spreads on its platform. Some people are so dumb they are not even worth to write a comment about them. You don't form an own opinion by soaking up other ones' opinion. You become a dependent vassal to them then. But well, this is how Trumpists are born.
“It’s important to have The Typical Liberal and DC Draino to expose the [media’s] lies, so we can formulate our own opinions,” Jack told me.
On March 17, I clicked Follow on @the_typical_liberal. My account lit up with follow requests from pages with handles alluding to QAnon, and the app immediately prompted me to follow far-right figures such as Milo Yiannopoulos, Laura Loomer, Alex Jones, and Candace Owens, as well as a slew of far-right meme pages such as @unclesamsmisguidedchildren and @the.new.federation. Following these pages resulted in suggestions for pages dedicated to promoting QAnon, chemtrails, Pizzagate, and anti-vaccination rhetoric.Ouch, what a mess!
Meme pages aren’t the only types of accounts bent on leveraging Instagram to radicalize young people. As The Daily Beast reported last fall, Instagram has become a haven for far-right figures such as Alex Jones, who has found a home on Instagram. Jones’s Infowars videos have flourished on IGTV, Instagram’s home for more long-form video content, where networks of accounts repost them.
“Far-right influencers are adopting Instagram-influencer strategies to normalize themselves,” Lewis says. Members of the American Identity Movement, also known as Identity Evropa, a white-supremacist group, are also active on the platform and use it to post relatable content. These posts do not technically violate Instagram’s terms of service, but Lewis says these groups are using the platform “to rebrand themselves as less violent than they actually are” and to attract young users to their extremist movements.

Is Israel moving towards the far right wing?
In fact, just last May, Israel passed a nation-state law, which ended once and for all, any supposed confusion about Israel's identity. The new law openly declared Israel as "the nation state of the Jewish people", completely disregarding the Palestinian people and marginalising their rights, culture, language and history.Ehhh.... Ok?...
Camus, himself, has expressed his admiration for Israel on a number of occasions. In December 2017, after Donald Drumpf moved the US embassy to Jerusalem, he tweeted: "Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. Israel is a model of resistance. We must make Europe a greater Israel".
"There is nothing wrong with preserving our own Judeo-Christian civilization. That is our duty […] Look at Israel, learn from Israel; Israel is an island in a sea of Islamic barbarism. Israel is a beacon of freedom and prosperity in a region of Islamic darkness. Israel refuses to be overrun by jihadists. So should we."
Both Wilders and Robinson have received money from the pro-Israel think-tank, the Middle East Forum, to offset their legal costs after they were charged with incitement of hate against Muslims.

The Economicst interview with Alt-Right pundit Ben Shapiro
His views are classically religious-conservative. He suggests that transgender people suffer a “mental disorder”; he opposes same-sex couples raising children; he has said (and sort of retracted) that “Arabs like to bomb crap and live in open sewage.”This is far from Conservative, this is immature and die-hard controversial. You cannot have worthwhile discussions with arguments this way. You can only break his nose and let him pay for the operation.
And then in turn, we’ve fought back against the notion of reason itself. And we’re reverting to a sort of tribalism we see in our politics that's getting quite ugly.I wonder how you can reasonably argue that a supernatural being like God could exist, and how it could be proven. This would be an intriguing topic to discuss with him.
Of course that’s true. It’s also true that slavery is a universal human institution until its abolition essentially by the Judeo-Christian West.Actually, the enslavers were Christians, the founding fathers of your glorious nation held slaves, but were Christians, self-entitled. You cannot have the cake and eat it too; you either are a Christian who enslaves human beings, or you are Christian and fight for the universal human rights, that also work for slaves who shall no longer be slaves.
The Harvard sociologist, he makes the point that diversity itself is not necessarily a strengthening factor in a society, but when there is a society that has a common purpose, then the diversity definitely helps the society.I'll leave this here, without a comment.
But I think it’s important to note that the great difference that has happened in the world is the West.Fortunately, the West is not an isolated system, it lives off the constant flow of human beings across border lines, and doesn't care for cultural differences. Just saying.
I certainly agree that the basic notion of fairness itself is sort of embedded in the human mind—a notion of fairness that I largely believe is incorrect, which is the fairness of outcome. With that said, there is nothing in basic religious theology that suggests that just because somebody is successful and somebody else is not successful, that some sort of cosmic injustice has been done. It's not a cosmic one, but a societal failure.
As a religious person, I want to care for my neighbor; it’s a biblical injunction. That’s not the same thing as suggesting that an overarching government has the power to confiscate wealth from some and give it to others.Taxes also don't work that way. Taxes work in such a way that all people, disregarding any differences, put money in a pot and then, this garnered amount of money is justly shared among all, so that all people can benefit from it. It is scattered among the people in shape of publicly accessible goods such as streets, for example.
If we agree on all of those things, and then we are willing to grant the other side of the debate the credibility to make its arguments, then we are likely to have a less acrimonious debate. The claim that transgender people suffered from a mental disorder is not an argument, but hate speech.
The intersectional politics of the United States is really dangerous and it’s not just on the left side of the aisle. It’s on the right side of the aisle, as well.Word!
But you know, there are a lot of rational people who want to connect speech with violence. Not equalising speech with violence but speech with the ignition and relativsation of violence. That's what you've got wrong.
I’m not going to criticise him when I think he’s doing something right. I’m not going to ignore it when I think he’s doing something wrong.Sounds about right.
Certainly a date with Marx would go very poorly. Number one because he was not fond of the Jews. And number two, he was wrong about pretty much everything.Sounds like he didn't read him.

Unknown individual leaves message at Rep. Rashida Tlaib's (D - MI) door
"This is the hateful rhetoric & bullying on my door today. Stop the fear mongering & blantant lies. Come here w/ the value that all beings deserve human rights, including Palestinians. (Omar) & I fight for equality & justice for all. There's nothing antisemitic about that!" Tlaib wrote in the tweet.
The note comes several weeks after Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, stirred controversy after she suggested money was behind politicians' support for Israel -- she later apologized -- and insinuated that pro-Israel groups were pushing "allegiance to a foreign country."

That moment when a libertarian was too offensive for the Mises Institute
The cover caused a stir within the Mises Institute and Hans-Hermann Hoppe who had originally written the foreword for the book, but had then pulled it after being informed of the cover. The incident also caused the Mises Institute to remove Rachels’ other book from their site and all information on him.Remember: it was not even about the content that stirred this outrage in the publishing house, but only the book cover. They removed all of his books which they published, just because he provided a cover that matches the idea of adapting the Alt-Right culture. I never saw the Mises institute so thin-skinned in their ideals.
The author provided a full account of the incident with screenshots on the Radical Capitalist that includes screenshots of correspondences between himself, Hoppe and Mises Institute staff members.

On Lamar Alexander (R - TN) and Charlie Kirk, head of Turning Point USA
This, of course, is not true. Turning Point USA’s “top priority” is, well, Turning Point USA. To the extent this organization and its leaders have priorities, they are always in service to self.Talking about Conservatism and praising a president for intervening in public life, or economics. That's what the Trumpists are, they are much, but truly not Conservatives. They are whimps who call themselvesl ike this but run after the president when someone bashes them for claiming that the left was oppressing them.
Lest we forget, we wouldn’t be discussing this executive order if not for Hayden Williams, the man involved in the scuffle. Williams is not a Berkeley student, but a Leadership Institute staffer airdropped in to help TPUSA with the hard work of converting students to conservatism at Berkeley. Just like Jews for Jesus recruited at my Catholic University, it’s a struggle, but somebody has to do it.
And I agree that colleges should punish hecklers who veto free speech, and stop coddling students to protect them from disagreeable points of view. But I don’t want to see Congress or the President or the department of anything creating speech codes to define what you can say on campus. The U.S. Constitution guarantees free speech. Federal courts define and enforce it. The Department of Justice can weigh in. Conservatives don’t like it when judges try to write laws, and conservatives should not like it when legislators and agencies try to rewrite the Constitution.

Usual subject to conspiracy theories began to spread conspiracy theories
(Normally, this article is outdated, but I only now stumbled across it, and found it immediately interesting. Hence, why not share it, though? It shows us how mentally deranged the liar in chief really is, to spread conspiracy theories instead of fighting them, being what he is supposed to be, namely a beacon of safety, hope and prosperity in uncertain times.)
And his tabloid-fueled, campaign-trail instigations about the JFK assassination—he suggested the father of a political opponent, Ted Cruz, was somehow involved—are the backdrop against which the public must attempt to contextualize a presidential decision about open records.
Yet Drumpf isn’t just indifferent to truth, as any neutral party can see; and he isn’t solely set on deceiving the public, despite what many of his critics insist. Donald Drumpf isn’t even first and foremost a performer. He’s a pretender. And he has a preternatural sense for what people want him to be.
The president of the United States is not an underdog. But Donald Drumpf has repeatedly leveraged a perceived underdog status into success—his comeback from bankruptcy in the 1990s and, more recently, his establishment-rocking presidential victory last year. Drumpf knows how well the underdog narrative has served him. And he knows exactly how conspiracy theories grab people.

Why fascists have always been trolls
The Nazis were dedicated trolls who weaponized their insincerity to take advantage of liberal societies ill-equipped to confront them. This was not done just for political advantage—rather, the insincerity itself was a moral act, an expression of contempt for the weak.
The original Nazis were open about their intentions, but their strategic insincerity created a fog of doubt that allowed observers to avoid the obvious. In 1922, The New York Times infamously declared that many believed “Hitler’s anti-Semitism was not so genuine or violent as it sounded, and that he was merely using anti-Semitic propaganda as a bait to catch masses of followers and keep them aroused, enthusiastic, and in line for the time when his organization is perfected and sufficiently powerful to be employed effectively for political purposes.” In 1930, even after the Nazis had become the second-largest party in the German legislature, the Times assured its readers that “there is no present basis for assuming that the Nazis will attempt to make anti-Semitism a militant issue in their legislative program.”
And now, they do the same thing again, claiming that all this right-winged trolling via memes on the internet was just childish behaviour and could be taken with a grain of salt. Of course, history never repeats because people learn from the past, am I right? Of course I am, human evolution is flawless in its zenith that has reached in the 21st century, also nicknamed the era of anthropocene.
“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words,” wrote Jean-Paul Sartre in his 1946 essay “Anti-Semite and Jew.” “The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors.”

Rupert Murdoch's son Lachlan to succeed his father in leadership
Decades ago he was promised the mantle at Fox, but the company he will run is not what anyone expected, and disappointments have lined his path to this moment. Not only is Lachlan more distant from the White House than his hard-charging father, he will oversee a much smaller company — parent to Fox News, Fox Sports, Fox Entertainment and Fox TV Stations.
On the other side of the political spectrum, several Fox News staffers said they fear Lachlan is less loyal to the network than his father, who has always backed the cable channel without question. The opinionated, conservative faction of the company that supports Trump is already testing his authority.
The Murdochs agreed to the Disney offer as the Justice Department was fighting AT&T’s $85.4 billion acquisition of Time Warner. In contrast to the hostility Trump displayed toward that deal, Trump spoke to Rupert the day the Fox deal with Disney was announced and “congratulated him,” according to White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.

Former CA governor Arnold Schwarzenegger unamused about Reality TV starlet-turned-POTUS' comment on John McCain
He told me that Drumpf’s swipes at McCain are both disgraceful and destructive. “He was just an unbelievable person,” Schwarzenegger said. “So an attack on him is absolutely unacceptable if he’s alive or dead—but even twice as unacceptable since he passed away a few months ago. It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever to do that. I just think it’s a shame that the president lets himself down to that kind of level. We will be lucky if everyone in Washington followed McCain’s example, because he represented courage.”
Drumpf wasn’t invited to the McCain funeral service, which some of his allies describe as a hurtful snub. “McCain’s funeral was calibrated to insult Drumpf—from not inviting him to the way the media played it up,” the former senior White House aide Steve Bannon told me before the president spoke in Ohio.
Didn't he think that there was an alternate possibility including no focus on Trump whatsoever? The truth is that Trump hasn't been very honourable about him before he died (when he lied in a hospital, dying; Trump, in the meantime, ranted about him. There was no reason to invite him to his funeral, because he didn't take him as a man who served his country, but as a betrayer to him. You don't invite such people to your entierro), and he wasn't fair to him after his death. So, instead of pointing fingers, they commemorated his decease, and didn't care about the Dorito-coloured manchild. Period. No curses against him, no focus on him.
The war hero turned politician and the movie star turned politician joined forces in 2005, when McCain helped Schwarzenegger push for a package of education and spending initiatives in California. Voters defeated the measures, but Schwarzenegger didn’t forget the favor; he endorsed McCain in the 2008 Republican presidential-nomination fight.

Ban on military rifles executed in New Zealand, subsequent to Christchurch mosque shooting
Jacinda Ardern said the ban goes into effect immediately and would be followed by legislation next month. New Zealand's citizens should make arrangements to turn in weapons banned under the new laws, Ardern told the nation in a live television announcement.
She said an amnesty will be put in place for weapons to be handed in by citizens. The New Zealand cabinet will also implement a buyback plan for banned weapons, and there will be "tightly regulated" exemptions for some owners such as hunters and farmers.
About 1.5 million firearms are owned – legally and illegally – by civilians in New Zealand, according to police data tracked by GunPolicy.org, a website run in conjunction with the University of Sydney. This equates to about 30 firearms per 100 people. In the United States, the rate is approximately 120 firearms per 100 people, according to the site.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R - CA) sues Twitter and three users for «silencing conservative voices»
(Guess that our GOP snowflakes can't stand the criticism they raise with all their mockery, their outspeaking and such. Please hand this man down some essays on what free speech is all about, because it seems to me like he didn't understand it. Anyway, let's read on.)
Fox News on Monday uploaded a copy of the complaint to its website. It was unclear whether the suit had actually been filed, since the copy did not bear a case number. Nunes’ lawyer could not be reached for comment Monday night.
Guess he was only screaming for attention. But as we all know, one must not count one's chickens before they are hatched.
“They spread this fake news and the slanderous news,” Nunes told host Sean Hannity in an interview on Fox News, accusing Twitter of “proliferating out things that they agree with, with the algorithms” he said the company has developed.
Guess what - your party's disciples and voters do the very same, but no-one filed a lawsuit against any people or Social Networks. Now, quit your whining and go back to work, you're embarassing your people.

Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro to meet with Donald Trump
“It’s the first time in a long time that a Brazilian president who is not anti-American, comes to Washington,” Bolsonaro said on Twitter after he arrived.
Outside the White House on Sunday afternoon, dozens of demonstrators gathered to protest the visit — holding signs including one that accused Bolsonaro of being a “murderer” over apparent links to suspects in the killing of rights activist Marielle Franco. Police have said those ties are coincidental.

On the rise of right-winged terrorism
The regrettable truth is that expressing deep sympathy in the immediate aftermath of an attack comes much more easily than longer-term reflection on the role that politicians, and social and traditional media may play in creating an environment in which far-right terrorism can flourish.
Or we as the people ourselves...
Britain is not alone in this: in the US, the number of far-right terrorist attacks quadrupled between 2016 and 2017. Last year, 11 people were shot while worshipping at a synagogue in Pittsburgh. Yet President Drumpf has slashed funding aimed at reducing domestic terrorism.
Last year, Boris Johnson compared Muslim women wearing burqas to “letterboxes” and “bank robbers”. According to the hate crime monitors Tell Mama, this led to a rise in incidents targeting women wearing the burqa. In 2016, Zac Goldsmith’s campaign for London mayor deployed a series of racist dogwhistles to imply that Sadiq Khan had links to Muslim extremists. Not only did he face no censure, other senior Tories, including David Cameron, joined in: Theresa May said Khan was unfit to be mayor “at a time when we face a significant threat from terrorism”. Jeremy Corbyn has been so remiss in getting a grip on antisemitism in the Labour party that the Equality and Human Rights Commission has taken the extraordinary step of opening an investigation into the party.

Alabama newspaper editor resigns over publisher's comment to the KKK to «ride again»
“He never left the building,” said Moore about Sutton, whose family has owned and operated the Democrat-Reporter based in Linden since 1917. “It seemed like (Dexter) would be real energetic and her (hiring) was the right thing.”
Several politicians, including U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, D-Birmingham, called on Sutton to resign. Sutton was also stripped of his past journalism awards, and was censured by the Alabama Press Association.
“They had a decent newspaper about 16 years ago,” said Moore. “His wife was a very good investigative reporter and a very nice person. When she passed away, all the credibility of that newspaper left.”

On the Christchurch shooting and its causes
The shooter says he carried out the attack for “my people,” because he believes that Muslim migration to European countries constitutes an “invasion” for which he wished to exact revenge. But he also included a number of ironic tropes intended to signal to his in-group and obscure what he was thinking to the out-group, only widening the cultural gulf between the two.
_The gleeful cruelty of the alt-right’s shposting in 2016, for instance, fooled mainstream journalists who couldn’t imagine people being glib about death threats or ethnostate advocacy. Their defensive and outraged reactions to something ostensibly ironic fueled the thing they were trying to stamp out. Shposting is ironic, vacuous. But it can also conceal something darker, as the apparent shooter’s 8chan post reveals: “Well lads, it’s time to stop sh**posting and time to make a real life effort post.”_
To say that it was meant ironic in any way, what those people are posting, is still relativising their thinking, their ideology. They desensitize themselves, mocking victims of shootings and such. It's one way of appreciating it, in the darkest ideological way. Sites like 8chan are a pit of fascists and other likewise scum.
We should be able to condemn the evil ideology he represents while also being careful not to accidentally become vectors of it ourselves — whether that means uncritically sharing a manifesto, or unwittingly behaving as the shooter anticipated, or unduly attributing to it any special power, any undeserved mysteriousness.

New Zealand Shooter & Christchurch Mosques: Mass Murderer Is an Online Troll | National Review
The Human Rights Movement was born out of a fear of democracy
Both developed out of the emerging European movement following the Second World War. This movement was motivated by conservative ruling elites’ need to manage democracy in the face of political threats, in particular the perceived threat of the spread of socialism from Eastern Europe (1).
Duranti notes that ‘while their socialist opponents called them anti-democratic, conservatives saw their aim at The Hague Congress as protecting democracy from itself’. Throughout the congress, the spectre of Nazism and the threat of Communism were presented as possible outcomes of untrammelled democracy.
A speech given by one leader showed how human rights were always conceived of as part of broader efforts towards European federalism. She proclaimed that given Europe’s ‘future is a federalist future, we believe that the defence of human rights is impossible in international terms except in a federalist framework’.
The attempt to craft an apolitical, democratically removed baseline for all the countries of the world, one situated in the primacy of human dignity, was immediately stalled by the social and political realities of the signatory states.
Much like the drafters of the European Convention on Human Rights, the drafters of the declaration were driven by conservative principles and an overriding concern to ensure stability. Their determination to enshrine the right to private property reflected their concerns about the spread of socialism, a fear shared by the drafters of the European Convention on Human Rights. Above all, they feared the results of untrammeled democracy. Today, it is this fear of democracy that echoes in our arguments about human rights, a fear now shared by both the left and right.

On the basis of internet culture that fuels hate crimes
The shooter’s manifesto and the livestream both contain a handful of references to internet-related things. Before he begins his drive to the mosque, the shooter says, “Subscribe to PewDiePie” — a phrase that recently became a meme via the YouTuber’s fans’ fervent efforts to preserve PewDiePie’s status as the channel with the most subscriptions on that platform. In the livestream recording, the shooter plays a piece of music known among channers as “Remove Kebab” (taken from an old Serbian propaganda video) while on his way to the mosque, and later plays a remix of “Grün ist Ünser Fallschirm,” a German paratrooper song preferred by channers. The one uniquely garish twist to the shooter’s livestream was his decision to write messages directly on his weapon, which is visible in the video at all times, similar to in a video game. It’s a tactic that feels cribbed from the popularity of streaming and “Let’s Plays.”
Covering mass shootings is a tricky proposition for the media, which needs to balance conveying information with denying perpetrators the attention they often crave.
The shooter’s plainly stated desire to murder Muslims — due to his (needless to say) erroneous belief that they represent a threat to white people — and to create confusion and further polarization seems like the most important component of his manifesto to pay attention to, rather than whatever social media content he might invoke.

On the Never-Trumpers
What I can't brook is how these critics shout from the rooftops that Never Trumpers are irrelevant and yet in the next breath blame us for using our supposedly great influence in dastardly ways to harm their hero. No one can square that circle.
What Never Drumpf means to me is simply that I won’t vote for Drumpf. I don’t accept that he’s a good president or a successful one, and I certainly don’t agree that he’s the “only one” who can fix the system or defeat the Left. I can always work to try to encourage other conservative candidates to run, or to write in a vote, and that’s what I will do.
I will not vote for Drumpf, because I can never vote for a virulent bigot. After much reflection, I personally believe Drumpf to be just that. This is a personal belief that I will not defend here and now, but it's not something I could make myself ignore, even if I wanted to.
I guess by dropping the names of Nazi sympathizers Schoenfeld wants to imply that I am anti-Semitic (how odd from a former supportive editor of Commentary, where I have authored a number of essays) — an unhinged trope that he ran into the ground in the past, especially in despicable attacks against Drumpf supporters such as Roger Kimball. But what he conveniently does not tell his readers is that I also presented a far more disturbing account of what some so-called Never Trumpers have said and written about rural and working-class Americans. Whereas elite leftists harbor a snobbish disdain for the working classes, they have not, to my knowledge, like an array of bitter Never Trumpers, dreamed of swapping out their fellow “deplorable” Americans for immigrants, both legal and illegal, arriving en masse.
3. The Bulwark:
While his book is definitely several notches above those produced by the various hagiographers who have previously dominated the pro-Drumpf book space, that is not necessarily saying much. Mounting a persuasive case for the presidency of Donald Drumpf turns out to be a problematic enterprise.
Drumpf was also the leading proponent of birtherism, the campaign to prove that America’s first black president was disqualified from holding his office. An intellectually honest book would make an effort to account for this record of what must properly be called racism, including the large part it has played in the Drumpf presidency. Hanson, engaging in a convenient form of intellectual subterfuge, neglects to discuss any of it.
If Clinton and high officials in the FBI were in cahoots to sabotage Drumpf, why did they not leak the dossier, already in their possession, to the media before the election when it could have done the Drumpf campaign serious damage? Unsurprisingly, this is a question that Hanson opts not to entertain.

Libertarians have hit the nail in the head again
“For the comparatively cheap price of just $66 trillion I’m told the government could buy every American a Ferrari,” McConnell said on the Senate floor Wednesday.
Because this clearly is a valid argument against the Green New Deal. Give everyone a Ferrari instead, this will solve the problem likewise.
McConnell joined other Republican lawmakers who took to the Senate floor to criticize the Green New Deal, which calls for radically transforming the U.S. economy to fight global warming and dramatically expand welfare and “social justice” programs.
“Cars, lawnmowers, commercial airliners, everything must go,” McConnell said.

Trumpists created their own app to track safespace restaurants
Drumpf supporters who want to grab dinner but are terrified of getting punched by an antifascist “antifa” activist can pull up the app, “63red Safe,” and find a list of Drumpf-friendly businesses—or at least ones that don’t discriminate against conservatives.
“Does this business serve persons of every political belief?” the app’s questions read. “Will this business protect its customers if they are attacked for political reasons?”
«Before we take your order, Sir, we would like to know who you voted for in the last election. How are you leaning politically? Could we please hear in which Social networks you are active?»
Seriously - when you go eating in a restaurant, take off your hat before you enter. It's not a matter of assuring to not be told to leave but as a matter of common fashion. At least in Germany, we tend to take off our hats before entering a room or building. Oh, and also: When you walk out you don't need to wear a shirt that identifies you as a Trumpist. In Restaurants, Button-down shirts and pantaloons instead of shirts should be a common thing to wear in restaurants. You don't need to appear like a pubescent adolescent. There's simply no need to.
“I believe that, between now and 2020, we’re going to see the rise of the socialist goon squad,” Wallace said. “I think antifa was nothing compared between now and what’s coming in 2020. And I’m deeply concerned.”
Oh, and it also seems to be flawed. Check out this article by Ars Technica for additional information. It seems like Mr. Wallace didn't check about the safety before launching his app. Oh well...

The right-winged extremists' new strategy
Data collected by the Anti-Defamation League’s Center on Extremism shows a staggering 182 percent increase of propaganda incidents in 2018, with 1,187 cases reported, compared with 421 in 2017. This is the highest number of reported propaganda efforts on record.
Identity Evropa often posts flyers that appear to be innocuous paeans to Western European art. Patriot Front leans heavily on red, white and blue signage with mainstream conservative messaging, including “America First” and “Fake news — don’t buy it.” When they gather for events, Patriot Front members are far less circumspect about their racism, frequently shouting “Blood and Soil!” — a callback to a Nazi slogan.
When they share these images with their virtual community, these groups are patting themselves on the back, celebrating their ability to overcome the obstacles set up by the “mainstream media,” “leftists” and, of course, the Jews.

Where a few weeks ago, cable television networks cut to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s live commentary about Drumpf and Russia, this week they carried her uncomfortable words about seething fellow Democrats.
As Pelosi and Democratic leadership have come under pressure to rebuke Omar, for example, three of the party’s presidential candidates — Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) — pushed back. The result was a watered-down resolution introduced on Thursday that did not single out Omar by name and condemned both “anti-Semitism” and “anti-Muslim discrimination.”
White House aides are in the midst of a pressure campaign pushing GOP lawmakers not to support a resolution set to rebuke the president for invoking his national emergency powers to build his border wall. Next week, Drumpf is likely to quash the measure with the first veto of his presidency.

On Dan Crenshaw, the latest starlet in the GOPs
“A society full of people who are easily enraged by every tweet they see, or some news story that comes out—so susceptible to outrage culture, so ready to be offended—it’s not a sustainable society. It’s a society at each other’s throats,” he says.
He seriously sounds like a reaonsable conservative. I like him.
[...] whether he’s slamming his Democratic colleagues, speaking fluent Spanish in a video supporting the Venezuelan people or humble-bragging about his double ax-throwing skills—are frequently shared and “liked” by thousands or tens of thousands of people.
he supports free trade, wants to reform Medicare and Social Security, and thinks American troops should stay in Afghanistan (where an IED took one of the veteran’s eyes) as long as they’re needed to prevent another 9/11. That puts him at odds with Drumpf, whom Crenshaw has been unafraid to criticize, going so far as to call his rhetoric “insane” and “hateful” during the 2016 presidential campaign.

On CPAC and Trump's speech
Instead, he returned to his list of greatest hits: the Russia “witch hunt,” the worst trade deal ever, criminal immigrants, Crooked Hillary, socialist Democrats, and even the crowd size at his inauguration. Compared with his freewheeling rally speeches or his rambling remarks last month in the White House Rose Garden, the president’s CPAC speech was a wild ride. When the inferiority complex hits your unexpectedly hard...
His time at the podium may have even been the longest presidential oration in American history, according to the political writer David Rothkopf, eclipsing William Henry Harrison’s 8,445-word inaugural address in 1841—the outdoor speech in cold weather that famously gave Harrison pneumonia and caused his death within a month. This man died for his job.
2. The Bulwark:
Scrubbing history is at the heart of the current efforts to remake conservativism in the image of Drumpf. There can be only one; and what is happening now has never happened before, because he alone can save us. To #win requires that everyone else loses, or be discredited. This requires the excision of quite a lot of political memory, but CPAC was up for it.
As I recounted in How the Right Lost Its Mind, the perpetual outrage machines on the right thrived on the drumbeat of insisting that the Republican mainstream had betrayed the conservative movement. The sense of weakness and failure was amplified during the Obama years by activists who found that turning up the dial on outrage was an effective formula for getting clicks, raising money, and boosting ratings.

Former TV star-turned-racist bitch expressed her two cents again
The comedian sat down with conservative commentator Candace Owens in an interview that posted on YouTube Sunday to talk politics, Hollywood, race, religion and the #MeToo movement, taking specific aim at the women who accused Louis C.K. of sexual misconduct while in his hotel room.
Barr said her insight into women is different than most because she has two sons — 23 and 40 — and five grandsons. “I know a ho when I see one,” she told Owens. “I’m telling ya, they come for my boys ’cause my boys, you know, I’m their mom and they’re, you know, we have a little bit money. So I got an eagle eye for this thing.”

Daughter to recently deceased AZ Sen. John McCain criticises comment on her father at CPAC
“I care that ‘the ghost’ of my beloved father was used as ghoulish and deeply disturbed political propaganda on CPAC’s stage, but hey maybe that’s just me,” McCain wrote Sunday.
“I’m looking at you, retired Paul Ryan. And yes, I’m looking at you, Mitch McConnell! And yes, I’m looking at you, Bush family!” Malkin said at the conference, before pausing briefly and pointing up at the roof and continuing: “And yes, I’m looking at you, the ghost of John McCain!” Malkin’s comments received a standing ovation.

News on Trump, Mueller, and the probable impeachment
The President reacted to his worsening plight with a vehement defense on Sunday, after a week in which testimony from his ex-lawyer Michael Cohen deepened his political vulnerability and ahead of the expected filing soon of special counsel Robert Mueller's report.
And given his responsibilities and powers, the warning from Nadler took the President's political and legal nightmare to a new plane, and opened a new, more serious stage of the showdown between House Democrats and Drumpf.
Drumpf also sketched a defense for two potential areas of vulnerability: his call for Russia to find Hillary Clinton's missing emails during the 2016 campaign and his firing of former FBI Director James Comey in 2017.
The gag extends to “posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any other form of social media.” If Stone violates the order, Jackson could order him jailed without bail until his trial.
One says, “I am committed to proving my innocence. But I need your help.” Another photo, which shows a young Stone standing behind Drumpf years ago, says, “I’ve always had Drumpf’s back. Will you have mine?” Two other images tout a “Roger Stone Did Nothing Wrong” t-shirt and “Stone Cold Truth” sweatshirt.
Leopold repeatedly asserted he could not or would not discuss the documents and sources that were used as the foundation of his work, citing an aggressive leak investigation by the Drumpf administration looking for two unnamed law enforcement officials who served as sources. Leopold said, "I don’t even want to discuss" the documents he and Cormier reported were obtained by Mueller's office.
"Those people are seizing onto Cohen’s use of the word 'directly.' The president didn’t 'directly tell me to lie.' That’s an adverb that characterizes the underlying instruction to lie. And Cohen says almost immediately after that that the president was telling him to lie 'in his way,'" Leopold said. "So there is no longer any question about the direction Drumpf gave Cohen. The debate is now about how the direction was given, and a lot of people don’t want to admit that they were wrong."

Are there double standards for lying before Congress?
Both men pleaded guilty to making false statements to Congress, but Cohen also pleaded guilty to tax evasion, filing false statements on a loan application and hiding an illegal campaign contribution. That last one involved payments to porn star Stephanie Clifford (also known as Stormy Daniels) to buy her silence in the closing weeks of Drumpf’s presidential campaign.
Abrams supplemented that cash with a $10 million contribution from the sultan of Brunei. Abrams gave the sultan’s representative a Swiss bank account number to complete the transaction.
Labels aside, there is credible and corroborated reporting that the Contras killed unarmed men, women and children, committed rape and torture, attacked civilian facilities, such as hospitals and food warehouses, and conducted mass kidnappings. While not all Contra groups were human rights violators, some acted with extreme brutality.

On the Ciudadanos' directional crisis
It will be about the unity of Spain and it will be a contest between the Socialists on the one hand and a three-headed block to the right of centre in which Ciudadanos has lined up with the pp and Vox, a new ultra-conservative party.
The Economist has a strange comprehension of what conservatism actually is. Because Vox surely are not conservative, let alone ultra-conservative.
From nowhere, Vox took 11% of the vote in a regional election in Andalucía in December, helping to eject the Socialists from the regional administration they had run for almost 40 years. Mr Rivera’s vetoing of Mr Sánchez is thus a “defensive move” to stop Ciudadanos voters moving to Vox, says Mr Llaneras.

AOC compared to the politicians who ended the iron curtain
She is the gift that will keep on giving in a thousand soundbites. She is in their faces with the stridency of a world they loathe, almost martial in the way she articulates the multi-cultural energy of the new generation of progressives.
She for sure has got her platform for free promotion, there will always be scribes to shovel some more coal for her train.
That kind of deliberate misallocation of meaning invoked to scaremonger is part of the putrefaction of language used by demagogues through the ages. Fear of that didn’t deter Bernie Sanders, the first presidential hopeful in recent history with the balls to invoke socialism’s true principles and urgent application.
Then, almost out of nowhere, came the true slayer of inequality and plutocracy, AOC. First, to get elected, she managed the defenestration of a primary opponent backed by a complacent big city party machine. The next they knew she was sashaying along the corridors of Congress flanked by a posse of fired-up freshmen looking like the face of a tomorrow that would make “make America great again” look like the con trick it really was.
To be honest, this yet is one of the phoniest articles on AOC I have ever read. It's funnier than it is serious, so, don't expect too much of it. Take it with a grin, I suppose. 😀

Trump going to sign EO to enforce free speech on college campuses
Mr. Drumpf made the announcement at the 2019 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) after he called up onstage Hayden Williams, a conservative activist who was assaulted while on a recent recruiting trip to the University of California, Berkeley.
“First of all, he can take a punch…that was a hell of a hard punch,” Mr. Drumpf said. “Ladies and gentlemen, he took a hard punch in the face for all of us and we can never allow that to happen.”
On the incident that sparked this presidential EO:
In the video, a man in black is seen shoving Hayden Williams, a volunteer with conservative group Talking Points USA. On his table in Upper Sproul was a sign that read, “Hate Crimes Hoaxes Hurt Real Victims” – a reference to the Jussie Smollett case – and another saying “This is MAGA Country.” After the shoving, two punches were landed by the suspect onto Williams – one soft and one much harder, directly in his face.
So, Talking Points USA (or maybe, this is the SF branch) has found about one real hoax that can be related to hate crimes, and devour this case as if all hate crimes were just hoaxes promoted by a so-called liberal agenda? Well, this man has taken a risk by building up his stand, this has got nothing to do with the limitation of free speech, but with the protection of victims from the hate speakers that, for example, involve in groups such as Talking Points.
“It started off as verbal and it kinda heightened up where he was breaking down posters and taking down a table,” said Erbil. “This is something I’ve never really seen at Sproul. I know there’s a lot of political tension going on, but I’ve never been around for those events.”
“The university condemns in the strongest possible terms, violence and harassment of any sort, no matter who the perpetrators are, no matter who the targets are,” said Assistant Vice Chancellor of UC Berkeley Public Affairs Dan Mogulof.

«On censorship in Social Media», by Donnie Jr.
(Could also someone please explain the POTUS' son the difference between right-winged populism and conservatism? I really detest this swinging switch between those two lines in right-winged politics, because to me, this entire family is far from conservative views. I mean, real conservatives knew that intentional misgendering and deadnaming may not be a reason for censorship, but still lame, immature, and completely unnecessary. Conservatives, unlike their populist counterparts, are able to use their brain, and have some respect towards their next. Decency is what differs one from the other. Thanks a lot)
I’m sure Instagram will claim that this, too, was all just a terrible mistake. It’s funny how these “mistakes” never seem to happen to liberals at the critical moment of a news cycle. More to the point, if this is really a “mistake,” then why does it keep happening?
I rather wonder whether he asked any liberals about this happening, and if they experienced such some inadvertent deletions. To just claim this without any evidences, would be just another depiction of how populists derange the political discourse.
When social media censorship comes after someone like me, a prominent businessman and the son the president of the United States, it’s a story. The same is not true for the millions of conservative Americans who have no recourse whatsoever when Twitter or Facebook bans their accounts, limits their reach, and otherwise silences their voices because of their political opinions. It is they who are hurt the most by Big Tech’s manipulative partisan agenda.
Those of us with a big enough public profile to hold the tech giants accountable for their partisan speech-policing have a duty to do so. Ordinary conservatives can’t force multibillion-dollar companies to guarantee their right to free speech, which is exactly what the liberals are counting on.
