On Julian Assange
CNN cited US legal scholar Orin Kerr, who bluntly stated that the two publicly-revealed US charges against Assange—alleging he was involved in a conspiracy to gain unauthorised access to a US government computer—were “a placeholder.” Kerr said they were only “a brief indictment sufficient to get the case started, but very likely only a small part of any case against Assange.”
There is no evidence, in the indictment against Assange, or a supporting affidavit from an FBI special agent, indicating that the password was ever broken. Moreover, as an army intelligence analyst, Manning already had authorised access to all of the material that she would provide to WikiLeaks.
The affidavit against Assange accompanying the indictment, however, incorporates language taken directly from the US Espionage Act. It states that “Manning and Assange had reason to believe that public disclosures of the Afghanistan War reports and Iraq War reports would cause injury to the United States.”
Manning was convicted by court-martial in 2013 of espionage and other offenses for furnishing more than 700,000 documents, videos, diplomatic cables and battlefield accounts to WikiLeaks while she was an intelligence analyst in Iraq.
Her attorneys said among other things that the district court had failed to address her concerns that the government was abusing the grand jury process so it could preview or undermine her testimony as a potential defense witness at a trial.

The 7 years of lies about Assange won’t stop now
Still the media and political class is turning a blind eye. Where is the outrage at the lies we have been served up for these past seven years? Where is the contrition at having been gulled for so long? Where is the fury at the most basic press freedom – the right to publish – being trashed to silence Assange? Where is the willingness finally to speak up in Assange’s defence?#news #politics #freespeech #censorship #Assange #Dead Stream Media #UK #Sweden #Ecuador #Team America #America #Fuck Yeah
It’s not there. There will be no indignation at the BBC, or the Guardian, or CNN. Just curious, impassive – even gently mocking – reporting of Assange’s fate.
Hey, you fucking monkeys? Have a great day!
And what's happened to Barry? As you may imagine, it's been a big night in oz and no one seems to know what's happened to Barry 🙁

Thin-skinned Rep. and dairy farmer Devin Nunes (R - CA) files lawsuit against The Fresno Bee
A record of the lawsuit couldn’t be found in the Virginia online records system, but Nunes confirmed the lawsuit in a Monday night appearance on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show.Still, what he intends to do is to violate their First Amendment right.
Nunes declared that McClatchy reporters need “to come clean with the American people” and retract their “fake news” reports. He said he wants such stories scrubbed from the internet and promised more legal challenges.
The story by reporter Mackenzie Mays detailed claims in the lawsuit about an event that took place aboard a yacht where winery employee Alene Anase alleged she saw guests on the charity cruise using what appeared to be cocaine “and ‘drawing straws’ for which sex worker to hire.”
Nunes claims in the suit that the attacks on him were made, in part, to “interfere with and divert Nunes’ attention from his investigation of corruption and alleged Russian involvement in the 2016 Presidential Election.”

Would I break out of this cage?
What would I do without my mind?

On Devin Nunes' (R - CA) thin-skinned appearance on the internet
(The opinion piece (to put it in the foreground): USA TODAY
(Speaking of Devin Nunes in my previous post, I also found this neat little peace of writing. I'm sure that many of you have heard of Nunes' lawsuit against the alleged «shadow-banning» that takes place on Twitter with fake-accounts mocking his name or personality, such as «Devin Nunes' Cow», his «Alt-Mom», his «Skin», his «Emotional Support Dog», and what not (for those who didn't: Fox News - Yes I know it's Fox News, but it doesn't contain any bias, only the facts). Even Conservative news outlets like the National Review have said that his lawsuit was dead on arrival, mainly because he only ignited this movement, so he rather showed that he couldn't take the jokes that went against him as a counter-attack to his own behaviour. He would've done better to learn how the internet works, how the political discourse among the opposition works. Instead, he became a laughing stock.)
The fact is, free speech is recognized and protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The Framers correctly considered it a God-given right, an inherent freedom so important to the system of government they were establishing that they explicitly stated its existence straight at the outset of the Bill of Rights.
The plain fact is, Rep. Nunes’ lawsuit constitutes a grave threat to the long recognized and respected civil liberties belonging to each of us, and indeed our system of governance writ large. Madison also said, “All men having power ought to be distrusted to a certain degree.” He was right, as was British historian Lord Acton when he said, “Power tends to corrupt.”

On Ted Cruz' (R - TX) lawsuit agains tthe Federal Election Committee
No matter what you say about the case, the article or the entire website I hereby share, they personally had me at the first chapter already: «The unlikable, craven hypocrite has a point». This was beyond hilarious. :'D
Cruz is challenging an FEC rule that limits the amount of money candidates can reimburse themselves for personal loans given to their own campaigns. The Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act limits repayments candidates can give themselves from post-election fundraising to $250,000. Cruz claims he loaned his campaign $260,000 during his Texas Senate battle against Beto O’Rourke. The equalisation of speech to money is such a fundamental issue to this country, I guess we could sum up our entire planet's fundamental problems to this one universal, yet utterly false equalisation of speech to money.
Wealthy candidates have a First Amendment right (so the story goes) to spend as much as they want to buy themselves an election. But limiting how much they can reimburse themselves arguably disincentivizes profligate personal financing of elections. After $250K, all additional “speech” is a sunk cost. If that means some candidates will not loan themselves quite as much “speech,” so be it.
I don’t agree with the fundamental premise here, as I don’t think money is speech. But even if I did think that, I don’t see how Cruz’s speech rights are violated given that he was allowed to spend all the “speech” he wanted to. Nobody is limiting what Ted Cruz can say (would that somebody could) or how much money he can spend on himself to say it. Cruz’s First Amendment rights are secure.

Ecuadorian embassy to London throws out Wikileaks founder Julian Assange after years of residence
"BREAKING: A high level source within the Ecuadorian state has told @WikiLeaks that Julian Assange will be expelled within 'hours to days' using the #INAPapers offshore scandal as a pretext--and that it already has an agreement with the UK for his arrest," WikiLeaks tweeted from its verified account. If I remember correctly, he was persecuted for a sexual abuse, right? What was the #INAPapers scandal again?
"The leak has sparked a congressional investigation into President Moreno for corruption. Moreno can’t be summoned for a criminal probe while he remains president. He is currently being investigated and risks impeachment," the blog post read.Interesting idea, I must admit. The question is whether legal persecutors could rightly rely on WikiLeaks documents when charging Sr. Moreno for his illegal abuse of offshore tax havens.
Assange has come under scrutiny for publishing hacked emails from former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) during the 2016 election. He has dismissed scrutiny by stating that he acted as other journalists have when they decide to make confidential documents public. Was this about the INAPapers? If yes, then thanks, good to know, or rather say: Recall.
The link: The Hill
For futher information, let's have a look in the AP news article WikiLeaks has shared within its Twitter thread on Mr. Assange's expulsion.
In a speech to the Ecuadorian Broadcasting Association on Tuesday, Moreno accused WikiLeaks of intercepting phone calls and private conversations as well as “photos of my bedroom, what I eat, and how my wife and daughters and friends dance.”This has got nothing to do with journalism anymore, when Sr. Moreno is right about these allegations. Journalism is not about stalking into one's private life, this lacks all professionality, and is merely about threatening one's security, one's privacy, it makes life an everyday trip through hell. Not a nice thing to do against the country's leader who grants you sanctuary. I mean: Imagine someone protected you from international persecution, and you in return tried to get your benefactor before court for misdemeanours he or she committed. You never bite the hand that feeds you.
“If President Moreno wants to illegally terminate a refugee publisher’s asylum to cover up an offshore corruption scandal, history will not be kind,” WikiLeaks said in a statement.Assuming that truth will dwell one day, therefore dragging him down? True that. Now, the question is who is right and who is wrong.

Panhandling is not illegal in Arkansas, federal judge decides
U.S. District Judge Robert Dawson on Monday imposed a permanent injunction on a 2017 ordinance in Hot Springs that outlaws physical interactions between pedestrians and people in vehicles, The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. The ordinance violates the First Amendment by regulating speech based on content, Dawson said.I didn't even know you could illegalise something like this. Marvellous!
"The Court is unpersuaded by the city's effort to separate physical interaction from its expressive intent or message as a means of avoiding conflict with the First Amendment," he wrote. "All people everywhere routinely communicate non-verbal messages through physical interaction, often without noticing it."

Google's «Project Maven» was protected from Freedom Of Information Act
Maven would use artificial intelligence to help pick out drone targets faster and more easily, and that Google backed out of its Maven contract amid staff outcry. (Maven is now linked to defense startup Anduril Industries.) Black’s email was obtained and partially published by The Intercept last year.
The Freedom of Information Act is a vital tool for journalism, watchdog groups, academics, and anyone else hoping to bring news to the public about what its government is doing in its name. But the government says Project Maven is immune.

Ethics of journalism instructor hit by backlash on KKK-comparison of Young Americans For Freedom
Mississippi State Chief Communications Officer Sid Slater told Campus Reform that the students in the YAF chapter were clearly engaged in lawful activities that were in compliance with university guidelines. She offered additional remarks regarding Phillips’ comments.Seems like his joke didn't reach the people as it was supposed to. How sad for him, let's see if he will resign from his post or not.
YAF’s national spokesman, Spencer Brown, called the incident “emblematic of a major problem within higher education—and to an extent within the larger culture today—where ideological opponents of conservatism turn to ad hominem attacks and poison the well of ideas in their attempts to silence conservatives.”

The Economicst interview with Alt-Right pundit Ben Shapiro
His views are classically religious-conservative. He suggests that transgender people suffer a “mental disorder”; he opposes same-sex couples raising children; he has said (and sort of retracted) that “Arabs like to bomb crap and live in open sewage.”This is far from Conservative, this is immature and die-hard controversial. You cannot have worthwhile discussions with arguments this way. You can only break his nose and let him pay for the operation.
And then in turn, we’ve fought back against the notion of reason itself. And we’re reverting to a sort of tribalism we see in our politics that's getting quite ugly.I wonder how you can reasonably argue that a supernatural being like God could exist, and how it could be proven. This would be an intriguing topic to discuss with him.
Of course that’s true. It’s also true that slavery is a universal human institution until its abolition essentially by the Judeo-Christian West.Actually, the enslavers were Christians, the founding fathers of your glorious nation held slaves, but were Christians, self-entitled. You cannot have the cake and eat it too; you either are a Christian who enslaves human beings, or you are Christian and fight for the universal human rights, that also work for slaves who shall no longer be slaves.
The Harvard sociologist, he makes the point that diversity itself is not necessarily a strengthening factor in a society, but when there is a society that has a common purpose, then the diversity definitely helps the society.I'll leave this here, without a comment.
But I think it’s important to note that the great difference that has happened in the world is the West.Fortunately, the West is not an isolated system, it lives off the constant flow of human beings across border lines, and doesn't care for cultural differences. Just saying.
I certainly agree that the basic notion of fairness itself is sort of embedded in the human mind—a notion of fairness that I largely believe is incorrect, which is the fairness of outcome. With that said, there is nothing in basic religious theology that suggests that just because somebody is successful and somebody else is not successful, that some sort of cosmic injustice has been done. It's not a cosmic one, but a societal failure.
As a religious person, I want to care for my neighbor; it’s a biblical injunction. That’s not the same thing as suggesting that an overarching government has the power to confiscate wealth from some and give it to others.Taxes also don't work that way. Taxes work in such a way that all people, disregarding any differences, put money in a pot and then, this garnered amount of money is justly shared among all, so that all people can benefit from it. It is scattered among the people in shape of publicly accessible goods such as streets, for example.
If we agree on all of those things, and then we are willing to grant the other side of the debate the credibility to make its arguments, then we are likely to have a less acrimonious debate. The claim that transgender people suffered from a mental disorder is not an argument, but hate speech.
The intersectional politics of the United States is really dangerous and it’s not just on the left side of the aisle. It’s on the right side of the aisle, as well.Word!
But you know, there are a lot of rational people who want to connect speech with violence. Not equalising speech with violence but speech with the ignition and relativsation of violence. That's what you've got wrong.
I’m not going to criticise him when I think he’s doing something right. I’m not going to ignore it when I think he’s doing something wrong.Sounds about right.
Certainly a date with Marx would go very poorly. Number one because he was not fond of the Jews. And number two, he was wrong about pretty much everything.Sounds like he didn't read him.

On Lamar Alexander (R - TN) and Charlie Kirk, head of Turning Point USA
This, of course, is not true. Turning Point USA’s “top priority” is, well, Turning Point USA. To the extent this organization and its leaders have priorities, they are always in service to self.Talking about Conservatism and praising a president for intervening in public life, or economics. That's what the Trumpists are, they are much, but truly not Conservatives. They are whimps who call themselvesl ike this but run after the president when someone bashes them for claiming that the left was oppressing them.
Lest we forget, we wouldn’t be discussing this executive order if not for Hayden Williams, the man involved in the scuffle. Williams is not a Berkeley student, but a Leadership Institute staffer airdropped in to help TPUSA with the hard work of converting students to conservatism at Berkeley. Just like Jews for Jesus recruited at my Catholic University, it’s a struggle, but somebody has to do it.
And I agree that colleges should punish hecklers who veto free speech, and stop coddling students to protect them from disagreeable points of view. But I don’t want to see Congress or the President or the department of anything creating speech codes to define what you can say on campus. The U.S. Constitution guarantees free speech. Federal courts define and enforce it. The Department of Justice can weigh in. Conservatives don’t like it when judges try to write laws, and conservatives should not like it when legislators and agencies try to rewrite the Constitution.

It seems that, in general, people only start to value #freespeech when their own speech is threatened. Freedom of speech requires tolerance of views different from our own. Are we now seeing the tyranny of liberal fake freedom unmask itself?

EU passes controversial copyright reform despite public criticism
The deal brings measures that would make platforms such as YouTube and Facebook liable for copyrighted material on their sites one step closer to conclusion.
How did we get here? European copyright law dates back to 2001 and the European Court of Justice has long been calling for it to be modernized in line with the digital era. EU officials are cognizant of the fact that a lot of material that is copyrighted ends up on the Internet without the original owners being fairly remunerated.
Why it is controversial: Tuesday's vote was the culmination of three years bitter debate. Tech giants, which make huge profits from advertising on content they host, and supporters of a free internet opposed the reform. Critics fear this will lead to the installation of "upload filters." Publishers and artists were in favor, as they sought a better return on the content they produce.

Police have said the man – who cannot yet be named – was not involved in the attack in Christchurch allegedly carried out by Australian white supremacist Brenton Tarrant, 28, on Friday.
Appearing in the Christchurch District Court on Monday, the accused was granted interim name suppression but was declined bail by Judge Stephen O’Driscoll.
The details behind the bail decision cannot be published.
He will appear in court again in April.
The teen faces two charges: one of sharing the live-stream and a second for posting a photograph of one of the mosque’s attacked with the message “target acquired” along with other chat messages “inciting extreme violence”.
If found guilty, could face up to 14 years’ jail.

Diaspora* Public Stream ✊️
Federation in diaspora* isn't ideal. We're all on our different pods, but these individual pods make a lot of difference over the diaspora* content that is available to us. For example: some of the things that I can see on my pod might not necessarily be visible to you depending on what pod you are on.
Let's compare the stream on some pods from my #cuckpod list:
Wow, check out the variation in those. Eh? Now that you see how the URL code works to test for public stream, you can go ahead and check the rest of your pods. ;)
It is my personal policy to not publicly list those especially good, freedom loving pods... not because I don't support them, but because this is a #war.
I know that if I were to start listing non-cucked pods, the #antifa cabal (censorship enthusiasts) would target them as a hate list. Our enlightened podmin don't need to deal with that hassle, not to mention the risks they face from repressive (The State) government agencies. Big gov, (especially in #Europe with the #EU) are leaning hard on the internet. They desperately want to reestablish that monopoly over the new-media and #narrative. Trump orders investigation into critical news outlets, Google, Twitter and Facebook
“It seems to be, if it’s conservatives, if Republicans, there is big discrimination,” Drumpf said of social media platforms. “I see it absolutely on Twitter,” he said, also naming Google and Facebook as offenders.
I guess her heard about Nunes' lawsuit against Twitter for allowing people to express their sometimes blatant opinion. But why would he name Twitter anyway? I mean, he's on there all the time, trampling through it with his tweets, it's like his regular press secretary. He's an idiot, after all.
“You look at the networks, you look at the news, you look at the newscasts – I call it Fake News,” Drumpf said, letting Bolsonaro know he had first dibs.
During the eventful Rose Garden presser, Drumpf also announced the “twilight hour of socialism has arrived” in the Western Hemisphere, citing unrest in Nicaragua, and change in Cuba.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R - CA) sues Twitter and three users for «silencing conservative voices»
(Guess that our GOP snowflakes can't stand the criticism they raise with all their mockery, their outspeaking and such. Please hand this man down some essays on what free speech is all about, because it seems to me like he didn't understand it. Anyway, let's read on.)
Fox News on Monday uploaded a copy of the complaint to its website. It was unclear whether the suit had actually been filed, since the copy did not bear a case number. Nunes’ lawyer could not be reached for comment Monday night.
Guess he was only screaming for attention. But as we all know, one must not count one's chickens before they are hatched.
“They spread this fake news and the slanderous news,” Nunes told host Sean Hannity in an interview on Fox News, accusing Twitter of “proliferating out things that they agree with, with the algorithms” he said the company has developed.
Guess what - your party's disciples and voters do the very same, but no-one filed a lawsuit against any people or Social Networks. Now, quit your whining and go back to work, you're embarassing your people.
