On AOC and the Republicans

Vox:

Three prior surveys — one in January from Morning Consult, one in February from Fox, and a third in mid-March from Gallup — all found that more Americans had negative views of AOC than had positive ones. This might surprise a lot of Democrats, who see all of her viral clips and impressive performances in congressional hearings and assume she’s a popular rising star.

A large number of Democrats — 44 percent — haven’t heard enough about her to have an opinion. A much smaller percentage of Republicans — 23 percent — can say the same. AOC is simply better known among Republicans than Democrats, and this is driving her unfavorables up.
Does knowledge determine towards dislike with her, or do those same Republicans only believe they know enough of her to have such an unfavourable opinion of her? I mean, they s... show more

On Donald Trump Jr.'s op-ed in the Daily Telegraph

“With the deadline fast approaching, it appears that democracy in the UK is all but dead,” he said.

“Now, the clock has virtually run out and almost all is lost – exactly as the European elites were hoping,” he said. “Some pro-Brexit politicians even suggest that Mrs May herself is trying to sabotage Brexit, by insisting that Parliament agree to a deal that essentially keeps Britain bound to the EU indefinitely.”

“In a way, you could say that Brexit and my father’s election are one and the same – the people of both the UK and the US voted to uproot the establishment for the sake of individual freedom and independence, only to see the establishment try to silence their voices and overturn their mandates,” he added.

Donald Trump Jr. defends Chelsea Clinton in standoff with NYU student on islamophobic comments

“I’m so sorry,” she said. “Certainly it was never my intention. I do believe words matter.”
Still, the student persisted in dressing down Clinton, claiming the shootings were “stoked by people like you.”

While it’s unclear which statements the student was referring, the exchange subsequently prompted a series of reactions on Twitter, including one from Drumpf Jr. who called it “sickening.”

Instead, he contended that he didn’t see white nationalism as much of an issue, speculating that the issue lies within “a small group of people that have very, very serious problems, I guess.”

The untouchable Ivanka Trump

Ivanka and her brother play to opposite ends of the political spectrum in America, and they’re being treated differently in return. Most notably, as multiple federal and congressional investigations target her father, her brothers, and her husband, Ivanka has remained seemingly unscathed.

It’s not that “Democrats are too scared to take on Ivanka,” added another congressional aide—it’s a sense that “Republicans will go to war to protect her.”

Donald Jr.’s approach to social-media could be described as more like “shitposting.” On Twitter (3.4 million followers) and Instagram (1.6 million followers) he spreads racist memes, retweet white supremacists, snipe at his father’s enemies, and shows off his hunting skills and MAGA fashion choices.

On Cohen's testimony

Now House Democrats plan to use Cohen’s revelations as a blueprint to summon key witnesses and pursue investigative avenues they say their Republican counterparts have ignored. That is likely to trigger a steady flow of public hearings involving those closest to the president as Democrats hunt for more damaging revelations.

As far as I recall, Felix Sater will be the next to testify. We'll see how many more will be subpoenaed in the near future.

Also caught in the midst of those discussions are Donald Jr and Ivanka, two of Drumpf’s children, who Cohen testified were briefed “approximately 10 times” about the project. Donald Jr had previously told the Senate intelligence committee under oath that he was only “peripherally aware” of it, while Ivanka Drumpf claimed ignorance about the plan as recently as last month, stating in an interview she knew “literally almost nothing” about it.

If Drumpf was, in fact, guilty of finance and insurance fraud for lying about his... show more

«On censorship in Social Media», by Donnie Jr.

(Could also someone please explain the POTUS' son the difference between right-winged populism and conservatism? I really detest this swinging switch between those two lines in right-winged politics, because to me, this entire family is far from conservative views. I mean, real conservatives knew that intentional misgendering and deadnaming may not be a reason for censorship, but still lame, immature, and completely unnecessary. Conservatives, unlike their populist counterparts, are able to use their brain, and have some respect towards their next. Decency is what differs one from the other. Thanks a lot)
I’m sure Instagram will claim that this, too, was all just a terrible mistake. It’s funny how these “mistakes” never seem to happen to liberals at the critical moment of a news cycle. More to the point, if this is really a “mistake,” then why does it keep happening?

I rather wonder whether he asked any liberals about this happening, and if they experienced su... show more

Donald Trump Jr. could run for president in 2024

Mr Drumpf made no additional comment indicating his opinion, but it follows increasing speculation that he is planning to follow in his father's footsteps by entering US politics.

Mr Drumpf has also been a strong supporter of his father’s policies on social media, while repeatedly attacking Democrats, journalists and the Mueller investigation into possible Russian interference in the presidential election.
