The Senate Tourism Committee voted 6-5 against the bill by Sen. Gerald Allen, R-Tuscaloosa.darn. Well, maybe next year, I won't need a permit to exercise my #rights under the #constitution. #2a #gun #permit #AL #alabama
Allen has sponsored the bill for years, saying that gun owners should not have to buy a permit to exercise their Second Amendment rights. Allen’s bill would not eliminate pistol permits but they would no longer be required.
- The principal suspended some students for "disobedience". They were also barred from attending prom and graduation.
- Some parents #protested the suspension in writing

There are people
(I already thought that we had this debate about Nazis being actually left-wingers because it is called National Socialists. Even German poltiicians who, by their age (speaking of age and senilitiy), become more and more demented, made the same claim about this determining predicate in the end. It's socialism, but with a very nationalist scent. Just saying: There's nothing socialist about deporting people for relating to an ethnic, religious or whatever minority and murdering them like vermits. This is racist, discriminating, a crima against humanity. Something only the wrost scum in the world is capable of doing without having a very bad conscience about. Now, the Socialists are nothing like this, they are empathic and objected to reaching the best for all of the poeple (excluding fascists). How would murdering almost half of them accomplish this goal? The answer: It doesn't. Period.)
Barr’s bombshell announcement led to Brooks’ outburst, which in turn led to discussion about whether socialists are Nazis because they both use the word “socialist” in their title. He actually quotes from Hitler's infamous pamphlet but claims that the Democrats were the actual fascists? Dude, seriously... I'm planning on reading the book to say I have read it, but I would never quote any single line from this book, no matter how desperate I was. There is a certain intonation when quoting from certain sources, and you should mind this as a public personality...
_ Brooks said in his floor speech Monday. Brooks quoted from Adolf Hitler's book "Mein Kampf" about the use of the "big lie" tactic to dominate political struggles, and the Alabama Republican claimed that's what Democrats did to Drumpf over the Russia allegations._
"Concentration camps were built by private firms who submitted the low bid," Nadler said. "It was in no sense a socialist economy or a socialist ideology. You shouldn’t confuse it by absolutely objectively false invoking of Nazis."It's true, great German companies and concerns employed the innocent inmates in the camps. The pharmaceutical company Bayer, the IG Farben, Siemens, etc... There's nothing less socialist than introducing the private market to incarceration and murdering camps so that they get cheap employees who will never see the light of day again. This is... Ugh, screw it. These so-called Conservatives are all piles of pure shit.

Until then, we will tear some flags apart:
Alabama ranked fifth in environmental protection
(The article also includes a map in which you can check how many toxic wastes your state omits in favour of your decreasing wealth. Just in case you're curious to see.)
Alabama had the fifth highest volume of toxic releases into waterways in 2017 with 11.2 million pounds, and the fifth most toxic substances released into the air with 27.1 million pounds.
Just in case you thought that this high ranking was good. It isn't.
The analysis was published this month in the EPA’s Toxics Release Inventory, a massive collection of legal pollution reports filed with the agency from more than 21,000 industrial facilities across the country. The reports lay out how much of certain chemicals are emitted to the air, land and water from manufacturing operations, electric utilities, as well as facilities like hazardous materials landfills that accept certain toxic substances.
However, take away land releases, which include the heavy mining waste, and Alabama and other southeastern states begin to climb the charts. Alabama ranked fifth in the country in both total air emissions and total water releases.

Alabama newspaper editor resigns over publisher's comment to the KKK to «ride again»
“He never left the building,” said Moore about Sutton, whose family has owned and operated the Democrat-Reporter based in Linden since 1917. “It seemed like (Dexter) would be real energetic and her (hiring) was the right thing.”
Several politicians, including U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, D-Birmingham, called on Sutton to resign. Sutton was also stripped of his past journalism awards, and was censured by the Alabama Press Association.
“They had a decent newspaper about 16 years ago,” said Moore. “His wife was a very good investigative reporter and a very nice person. When she passed away, all the credibility of that newspaper left.”

On Trump's bible signing session
The local meteorologists from Montgomery started warning the area just east of where I live to take shelter immediately. As the storms battered our region we heard the tornado sirens, made phone calls, checked on loved ones and neighbors, and made sure people were okay.
Drumpf is just a man. Why would people give him their Bibles? Why would he sign them? It isn’t his place; it’s near sacrilegious.
First of all, Trump is not just a man - he is the fucking president of the fucking United States. He may not be everyone's president, but he has the official position, nevertheless. Also, he has a strong back in the pious pseudo-Christians of the Southern states. To sign Bibles in a catastrophe-stricken region is seen as a believing president who is close to his people, and those who believe in God Almighty as well.
One, involves Jesus being asked about whether a tower falling on people and killing them was because of their sins in Luke 13:1-5. With great seriousness Jesus answers, “Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
Jesus is a coldly calculating bastard, damn! Reminds me of the Taggart train that went off the rails, killing all the passengers in it. In the outcome, Ms. Rand mentioned that all of those were fine with others being exploited and the state oppressing the people for the collective good.
Whether the words of Jesus have any meaning for you or not, we can all recognize that inherent in disasters—be they hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, the cry of the poor, or the migrant family fleeing violence—there is a call to turn to one another, see the humanity in those suffering, love our neighbors, and help the most vulnerable among us. This mercy and kindness is foundational. For people of faith. For President Drumpf. For all of us.

On Trump and Those Alabama Bibles
Beside this, the article reminded me of a song I found years ago when I was listening to Hank Williams III. Check it out, yet you might only be able to listen to the song on a laptop or computer, it might be disabled for mobile devices. Still, try it out, it may have changed hitherto.

Two articles on the Mardi Gras in New Orleans, LA
1. Nerdwallet: How to Celebrate Mardi Gras on a Budget:
This year, Mardi Gras falls on Tuesday, March 5. If you want to be in New Orleans for the height of the festivities, you’ll likely want to fly in on Friday, March 1.
New Orleans is fairly easy to navigate on foot. A three-day pass with the city’s Regional Transit Authority (RTA) only costs $9 and includes unlimited trips on RTA buses and streetcars.
New Orleans can be an expensive city to celebrate Mardi Gras, so why not try a different location? For a taste of history, try Mobile, Alabama, which is where the first Mardi Gras celebration took place in 1703. Or you could head to Pensacola, Florida, for its Grand Mardi Gras Parade, which features more than 6,000 marchers and typically draws crowds in the six figures.
2. MYNBC 15: Making Mardi Gras, Mobile's Carnival Museum:
The William and Emily Hearin Mobile Carnival Museum is like a library of congress for "the birthplace of Mardi Gras."
Blackwell also says, "The carnival museum has 14 galleries, and over the course of the year we've changed 12 of the galleries, adding new components to our growing collections to celebrate Mobile's greatest living tradition."
_There's lots to see but what wows visitors most is the royal finery. The museum features more crowns, gowns, scepters and trains than you'll find in any collection of European Royalty.__
I actually wanted to share some more articles on the Mardi Gras at different places, but all the other sources were blocked for Europe, thanks to the #GDPR. Please excuse this failure.

But money isn't everything- cost of living is not factored in. My friends from #Utah are blown away by some of the real estate available here in Alabama. Utah home prices are moving north into Kalifornia-esq values. A 3 bed 1 ba home in a nice northern Utah town can fetch $200k, while in #Alabama, you can buy a grand southern bell home for the same price an hour from the beach. Meanwhile, our " #republican " #representatives here in AL are trying to figure out a way to get themselves #voted out of office over a #gas #tax increase. Their defense is "we haven't had a gas tax increase in years". So, raise taxes because "it's been a while" is their defense.

42-year old Muslim executed in Alabama
Ray had argued Alabama's execution procedure favors Christian inmates because a Christian chaplain employed by the prison typically remains in the execution chamber during a lethal injection, but the state would not let his imam be present.
Man, you were executed in Alabama, a state located in the Deep South. Of course Christians are privileged, they don't care for "dem Muzzies!". Did you expect anything else from a state that is well-known for its cotton-pickin' enslavement of black people?
Prison system spokesman Bob Horton said Ray was visited by his imam both Wednesday and Thursday. Ray's imam, Yusef Maisonet, watched the execution from an adjoining witness room. There was no Christian chaplain in the chamber.
